  • Wasn't there also something to do with chili or spicy food releasing endorphins to make you feel better

Some of the spices might actually be useful, but the main reason I stick to curries when I have a cold is that I can't taste anything else.

  • Red chilli peppers contain lots of vitamin c.

  • They've never been as good since they got clean

  • V brakes. Cross fork with no eyelets.

How to fit the mudguards on the front please?

  • drill holes in the mudguard, use zipties

  • Can anyone recommend some winter bib shorts please? In the not too pricey end of the market.

  • I've been happy with the DHB ones. I'm sure they won't win me the admiration of the MAMILS up Box Hill but they're warm and comfortable and don't cost 400 quid.

  • Would the chainrings on this crank fit my Campag Ultratorque cranks?

  • The 5th bolt might need non-standard spacers/shims, and the pick-up pins on the outer will be out of phase. Are you just looking for some 53/39 UT rings? I have plenty in my parts bin.

  • Yeah, I am, thought that might be a cheap source. Need a new cassette and figure I might as well replace chainrings as they're a couple of years old.

  • Thanks. DHB were going to be my default choice as I already have some summer ones that fit well. Just wondered if there was anything else out there.

  • Does a new style bottom bracket (hollow) fit in an older model bike?

  • Depends on the size of the BB shell.

  • inside measures 34.81mm (1.37 inch) from threading to threading. 69.87mm (2.75 inch) from left to right.

  • Does a new style bottom bracket (hollow) fit in an older model bike?

Shimano HollowTech 2, Campag UltraTorque/PowerTorque, SRAM GXP and FSA Mega Exo are the common external cup BB standards which fit a 24-25mm axle into an old fashioned threaded BB shell.

There is also BB386EVO for 30mm axles in threaded shells, but it's rare. Cranks made for BB30/PF30 or BBRight won't fit in a conventional BB shell.

  • inside measures 34.81mm (1.37 inch) from threading to threading. 69.87mm (2.75 inch) from left to right.

If it's 34.8 inside the threads and 70mm wide, there's a good chance that what you have is an Italian frame. Check before ordering! All of the above external cup BBs are available with Italian thread 36mm×24tpi right hand thread on both sides for 70mm shell width as well as British 1.37"×24tpi right hand thread on non drive side and left hand thread on drive side for 68mm shell width.

  • Anyone know any decent place in London that stocks backpacks? Preferably the fashionably expensive crap like Mission workshop et al.

  • The frame might have Italian threading. It's a Belgium frame. My track bike is also Belgium (Ridley) and it has an Italian BB. This is a Merckx road frame. I'll order it at my LBS and get him to install it, just need to figure out what I should go for. Italian might be nice, wish to put as many Campy products on it if possible. Thank you for the tip.

  • As I understand it, all older Merckx frames had Italian threaded BBs. My track frame definitely did.

  • Any ideas on where to pick up a 1amp AGC (automotive glass cartridge) fuse in London today?

  • Anyone recommend a good front mudguard for mtb? Got a face full of spray today

  • SKS do some pretty wide versions of their usual models.

  • That they do, the other option is M:Part, which have a nice long flap which is (hopefully) long enough to prevent water spray on feets;

60mm should sufficient for most MTB tyres.

  • Any ideas on where to pick up a 1amp AGC (automotive glass cartridge) fuse in London today?

Is it this one ? In stock in most of their central London shops if so.
