Putting this in here as it seems the most relevant:
Do any of you guitar nerds know of a band that are in need of a new bassist? Genre; anywhere on the rock/blues/punk/hardcore spectrum really, though don't fancy being in a metal band tbh. Preferably central-ish London based for practice sessions.
Pm me if you think you might of anything... Cheers.

Just seen this pic of Jay Reatard playing a Wilshere just like mine at GonerFest a few years back... I'm in good company... RIP...

Awesome. Been on a bit of Reatard (and Ty Segall) kick lately.
^^Sorry LW, can't think of anyone off the top of my head. Good bass players are always hard to find though so I'm sure you won't be bandless for too long.

i've been on a bit of a Trevor Horn jagg lately. Sure, he was single handedly responsible for some of the worst musical crimes of the 80s but fuck me, he knew how to put a record together.

I only saw The Reatards once, back in '99 in Memphis... Amazing show, Jay was only a kid at the time and acting like a complete jerk... I'll never forget it... :D
I need to listen to more Ty Segall, I've loved everything that's come my way...

most of the work he did with 'Yes' and his latter day robbie (spits) williams fannybatter is utter guff.

whilst we are ZTT related and in the guitar thread, the guitarist on the FGTH records was a ma zing - Steven Lipson
-

Steven Lipson, who wrote most of the tracks and played guitar on STTR by yer GJ.

He produced that in 24 hours, so I think we can cut him some slack. Normally he liked to spend months on a record, getting perfect takes and spending days over every track.
I love Trevor Horn. Propaganda (which was mostly Steve Lipson), FGTH, ACT, The Buggles, and ABC's legendary Lexicon of love.
Working on the basis that every other Yes record was shit, and Owner of a Lonely Heart was the only decent one they ever made, he gets kudos for that too. Same with Grace Jones.
I recorded a record in the former Sarm East once. -

Trevor Rabin lived a few doors down from me a long fucking time ago.

Aye. The new Ty record is on Drag City so no Spotify. Dammit.
Highly reccomend the Ty Segall Band: Slaughterhouse record (which is on sptfy). Like a noisier, garagier, psychier Sabbath. It's f*cking immense.

Yeah, that's the TSB record I know... Awesome... I love a bit of snarling fuzz, me...

For the first time in ages I'm jonesing for a new guitar, luckily it's not too pricey - a Squier vintage modified Jazzmaster. I've got a VM jazz bass which I really like. Amazing how good some budget efforts are these days.
