Sir Brad must have had a lot of seatpost! Do you have the picture of him riding it?
-
• #103
No, but in a later photo when riding for Team Brite there is a LOT of seatpost there !!

Found this Graham Weigh frame at a jumble going cheap. Couldn't resist the pink. Long shot but wondering if anyone knows anything about it? Not much to go on other than what looks like a no. 70 stamped on the BB...

Great thread! I bought a Donohue 853 Millennium back in 2000 and have enjoyed it ever since – now considering a repaint. Also had a 853 mtb but sold it later. Have regretted that. Guess those are the only Donohues here in Finland.

Finland seems to be full of great bikes ( and cool old cars ) so I wouldn't be surprised if you bumped into one tomorrow..

• #111
actually, paradroid is also in finland right, so case at hand.. ha!

Rodolfo remembered correctly, and there are also at least two 853 track frames around. All of these are imported used in the last few years, though.

Still no, I haven't been back up north since I saw you so I've not been able to. Maybe October half term, probably Christmas...

Sorry for the delay. Mixed news, not been able to locate the frame number records yet but probably not needed in this case.
Firstly the frame is built by Donohue, not all Graham Weigh frames were built by him but this one is. It is a common design that was sold by Graham and were very popular at the time
As for it being Wiggos world championship winning frame, we don't think it is.
However on the plus side we do think it is wiggos frame. After winning the junior championships Graham asked Donohue to make another frame for Wiggo. Graham designed the yellow paint scheme in the picture you posted to celebrate the win. It is intended to be chequered flags and was chosen for publicity reasons. As a sideline Donohue hated the paint job but it would appear that the picture you have is the original one off paintwork. If you wanted to restore it that is the design to turn it back to.
Sadly I can't tell you what the components were as Donohue most likely only supplied the frame and forks. Neither can I tell you with certainty if it was raced. That said if you can find races soon after the championship win it would could well be this bike. If you can find a photograph of Wiggo at that time on a yellow frame its your bike. A bit of digging may be worth a go.
So, congratulations on having a one off frame made for wiggo even if its not the championship winning frame.

Thanks for the interesting feedback, there was most definitely a picture of Brad riding this frame in cycling weekly, around October of that year when he rode at the National Track Champs at Manchester , I'm trying to find someone with a stash of magazines from that date who can come up trumps with a picture. To me the fact that this was made to signify a world champion win probably holds more nostalgia. Anyway keep me posted on any other news regarding frame numbers and thanks you very much for your investigation work to date. Cheers, Jim

That's nice to know – as my road bike (and the ex-mtb) have been feeling lonely during the years...

Glad I didn't imagine that. Yes that's a bit of a challenge to find the pursuit bars and forks, everything else should be fine though ;-)

As promised, this was early 2009, resprayed at Graham Weigh (later style down tube decals) but a slightly lighter shade of yellow.

Graham says he remembers the bike, if you are restoring it back to original he can supply the name decals but thinks the flag design may be a struggle.

@beenatitforyears
If you have a way of getting information from Paul Donohue himself, do you have anything about the orange frame from this post: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/10197075/Also in this thread:
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/234412/?offset=175#comment10185609It's clearly some kind of custom winter fixed thing (which I have since sold) but I'd be interested to know why it was built and who for.
And also if there are any more frames identical to @TM 's track frame for sale anywhere...
Taken shortly after purchase, image not great as it's a photo of a photo ! I'll try and dig some more out when I can find them
