  • I've just stumbled across this thread, first post on here so hello everybody,

    I don't have a Donohue frame, but I do have something that might be of interest to this thread, Pauls old frame fixture.

    I've had it for a few years and built many frames on it. It's been primarily designed for Tig welding but I've used it for fillet brazing and lugged frames with good success. It's dead straight and very well built, It must weight over 300kg.

    I have tried to contact Paul (just to say hi and to let him know where his fixture is) but haven't had any luck so if anyone does still know him perhaps you could pass on my details?

    8 months later I had my first ride in Innanzi's Donohue frame today and it was absolutely fantastic, everything I wanted from a roadbike, couple of teething issues but will try get some photos sorted tomorrow, not exactly a looker but fits the bill of a fast, comfortable road bike that's a bit different. When you put the power down it just charges forward, really happy with it.

  • I have new headset, stem, seatpost, bars, front brake and maybe fork to try it out with. I'm hoping it will fit like that, but if it is too ridiculous then I will be in touch.

    Though ChrisMGS is 2 inches taller than me and has a Specialized with the same frame size, so I think it might be alright.

    It's a keeper, and has some new forks which I will hopefully fit at the end of the month.

  • Hi, new member and first post so here goes.
    I own what is believed to be the frame that was used by Bradley Wiggins during his 1998 track season. It is a Graham Weigh 853 mega millennium and is most likely a Donohue build , originally it was bright yellow with black chequered decals , it has 48 seat tube and 56 top tube, both C/C, and is near identical to the Team Brite frameset on the first page, Lo-Pro 700c and takes a very long seat post.
    I purchased it from Deeside Cycles late 1998, I recall them saying that is was a sponsorship frame and was made specifically for the pursuit, I paid £275 for frame and forks.
    There was a picture in cycling weekly earlier that year of Brad riding the frame so I have good faith that it's history is reliable.
    Top tube is round, down tube teardrop, seat tube is made of two sections, the lower section is a kind of oval section with a scalloped rear face allowing the rear wheel to sit inside the tube, at the top there is the second section that transfers from oval to round and it also changes the angle of the seat tube, the seat stays have been flattened off too, making them very narrow. All Tig welded to a very high standard. I've used this frame for road Time Trials since 1999, in 2004 I set lifetime personal bests of 19:10 for 10 miles and 50:48 for 25 miles both on 108". It had a respray around 2003 by Deeside and more recently a change of colour and air brushed graphics in 2011 by Skunk Custom. Following the success of Brad I'm now considering changing the frame back to its original colour and building up as it would have been for his individual pursuit races
    I'd be interested if anyone has further information, pictures or the copy of the cycling weekly that shows Brad and the bike.
    I'll post some pictures of the frameset and some various builds that it's gone through over time.

  • My 1999 Paul Donohue built 853. I bought the frame & forks from GW last year and built it up with Ultegra 6600 groupset, 6700 wheelset and I recently managed to find a Corima Ellipse seatpost and Selle San Marco ODS seat to finish it off

  • If you add the frame number I will try and confirm if it is the Wiggins bike.

  • The paint is quite thick over the numbers but looks like 2441390 or 2441398 if the last two number are the year then it's 98.
