Just use old inner tubes to protect the frame?
Seat/seat post mounts are ok, but it's all about the cages, if you don't want your bottles ejected every time you hit a bump...

YES dimi!!!!!!

• #96254
Have you finished yours yet?

I use a Zefal gizmo for my bike without mounts.
Comes with some frame protection, but I add a bit of inner tube too. Works very well, and leaves no marks if you remove promptly after riding.

nah, my back problems have flared up again so I haven't even ridden a bike in 2 weeks. As soon as my back is a bit more stable and I can train more regularly, I'll drop some money and sort the bike out properly.

Thanks guys. Zefal Gizmo looks like it'll do the job.

I think a load of people just used a bit of innertube as paint protection and then a jubilee clip to hold the cage on

If both of these are for sale for £150, which would be the better buy if I can only get one?
I know the weigh is nicer but its for commuting, I'm not concerned with retro etc
The spesh is a 2006 allez elite with Aksium wheels. Sorry no ds shots, not sure of groups but I think the allez is all 105

Where are you buying these bikes from? I want a cheap Allez!
-
• #96263
Haha but I want it!
-
• #96264
The drive side pedal on the Allez...
-
• #96265
Haha hadn't noticed. It won't have damaged threads or anything being put on backwards will it?
-
• #96266
Think I'm gonna go for the Allez anyway, it needs some work, no rear wheel skewer etc but I think its the better for commuting.
Does anyone want an 853 Graham Weigh for under 200 quid? I can organise it if so but I need to know soon -

A chap who runs an auction close to my parent's in Shropshire has a barn full of stuff, military uniforms/equipment, mirrors, furniture, piles and piles of bikes. Mostly kids bikes and apollo mountain bikes etc but there's the odd diamond in the rough.
I got the Raleigh I'm selling at the moment from there

What size is the Graham?
-
• #96272
I don't know any information about it other than that picture pretty much. I've seen it in person but it was behind a load of other crap so I couldn't get it out last time I was there.
It looks to be about a 56 -

Threads will be fine assuming it's just the right hand pedal threaded in backwards, what confuses me is why!
-
• #96274
Haha who knows.
Just spoke to the guy on the phone, he said he gets a lot of older "racers" in and in good nick and he's going to start sending me pictures as and when he gets them in so probably what I'll do is start a thread if and when that happens and there might be some bargains to be had and continually updated. -

you are right, i sold it to robadob.
but i think he will sell it or already sold it.
Water bottle cages without braze-ons. Is there any feasible way of attaching an additional bottle cage to the seat tube of my Ron Cooper without ruining the lovely paint job? Or next best solution for carrying an additional bottle? (Seat mount??) Or should I just HTFU and do all my day-long rides in Mallorca with one bottle and fill up en route?
