  • WOW; my helmet is in tatters and I literally passed from that shop 2 hours ago .. shouda known; will make a trip tomorrow. Cheers JB! Is vertigo any good?

  • Yeah seems to be. Much prefer it to my Mojito - lower profile, more cents and just feels better made. Nicer pads too. Though, check they have some in stock - I took the last medium black one. You obviously aren't a large so there may only be a white medium. It's a shame they don't have matte black ones...

According to the Kask distributor ALL Kask dealers are meant to take part in this, however that's BS. I called about 8 Kask dealers and only Peleton and Mosquito were taking part. Amey you could always give Sigma a call - I didn't try them but they are a dealer so in theory should be taking part, and are obviously close to you.

  • Hmm even kinoko .. although dont mind the detour tomorrow .. looks like a good shop; I was with the missus on a non-bike day so didnt go :P

I dont really mind any colour tbh.

  • Forgot to come on here and thank the forumenger who works in Cycle Surgery at the velodrome, Stratford. I was changing a tube and my whole rear mech effectively collapsed on me for no good reason. I wouldn't have got home without his patience, oily hands and advice. Cheers to you sir. I hope the etape treated you well.

They are all boss in there. Slightly biased as I've worked with a lot of them before, but it's a very good collection of bike enthusiasts, still holding out against the creeping Sports Directisation of the CS business.

  • Bikeworks - Shepherd's Bush.
Reliable staff, good chatting with, and all round good eggs. Adjusted my gearing for free - 'It's alright, you don't have to pay'. :3

    Rapha
Ordered a jersey but received only the sticker set that came with it. Response to my query was quick and sent me a jersey and a partial refund.

  • Caught a flat on way up to Borough this morning. Got DASd whilst walking to nearby Squeaky Chains to borrow a spanner (forgot mine today). Got there to find they don't open til 10am, but found a Taxi repair shop around the corner who obligingly lent me required spanner. Not the chattiest of folk, but helpful all the same. Would use again (maybs). /CSB

  • Vaidas Cycles.
Consistently great. The new shop looks great as well.

  • Cycle Surgery - Garratt lane Lane Wandsworth
They have a mechanic called Tony who is always in the shop and everytime I went there I was able to get a puncture repair, brake tighten, etc.. in less than 10 mins. Whereas a place like my local halfords are always booked for over a week or more.

  • Only if you consider Halfords a bicycle shop, never use them ever.

  • Matt at Singlespeedcomponents.co.uk for being consistently cheap, helpful, overly generous and a generally nice bloke.

Also had a very good experience at Cloud 9 Cycles nr Goodge St who were more than happy to accept a bin bag full of old components and wheels to build up onto a new Brother frame, did a damn good job of it, charged considerably less than BLB and Kinoko.quoted me for the same work, and made a few recommendations without automatically upselling and replacing parts. You, sirs, will have more repeat business from me.

  • also while I have to say I normally find Evans very hit and miss there's a really decent bloke in the Fenchurch st branch (may well be on here) who sorted out my loose headset and drivetrain rattle for nowt one afternoon the other week. Very helpful fella and improved their reputation in my mind.

Hadn't heard of this site before so I went googling and saw "Colour co-ordinated white components: Great for an understated, subtle look for your bike" on the homepage and almost choked to death laughing on my lemonade. Does seem pretty good though, dubious understanding of "subtlety" aside.

If you're looking for white components you're sorted though :)

that aside I've had a couple of wheelsets off him, one super cheap to replace a stolen set (lasted v well indeed given price), and more recently some mavic open pros on ambrosio hubs (also for a very good price imo). Last time he threw in a couple of lock rings and I had to force him to take a few quid for some riser bars too. Really nice guy, not a one-stop-shop in terms of stock, but I will def use him again when appropriate.

  • On the Dynamo I left my bag in Westons cafein in Sudbury. I can't thank Christine enough for returning it to me so promptly. So glad to get it back, so easily !

Really top quality service, they good a good bacon roll too !

  • OT but Myprotein ordered Thursday paid for premium next day (28th), get email from DPD saying it's gonna be here at 1pm on the 30th so I called Myprotein and full delivery refund and voucher is on it's way

I had the opposite with Myprotein (still good service) ordered 6pm Tuesday standard delivery and it arrive noon Wednesday, have been using them for years and never had a problem. Once they doubled my order and I didn't have anywhere to store 10kg of protein but they didn't charge me

  • Had a bit of a disaster yesterday, was out for a ride and my lezyne seatpack fell off the bike and I could not find it when I retraced my steps.

Inside were the Atomic 22 locking keys for various bolts on my bike, which means I can't currently get my wheels off, change saddle (new one arrived today) etc etc. I emailed them last night and today they offered to make new keys and deliver them in person tomorrow.

Thankfully I have other bikes that can be used so did not take the up, but was bowled over at their desire to help me out. Each key is made for the individual user.

  • The London Cycle Workshop on St. John's Hill in Clapham this morning.

I had issues installing SKS chromoplastic front guard. It was rubbing the headset resulting in bike unable to turn! Called them at about 7:05 and explained the issue they said they'll fix it if I bring it. Had a terrible walk in the rain (and on speedplay cleats) till the shop they fixed it in about 5 mins and didnt want to charge me!! Still paid a fiver.

10/10 Top service; would visit again.

Interesting bit about this incidence is that I live about 2 mins walk from a Cycle Surgery and 5 mins from Evans and I didnt even bother calling them or going there. I was pretty confident they will give me some bullshit about workshop is busy you will have to book it in even for a five min job and waste my trip.

But that is speculation, I've had some great service from a number of cycle surgery stores.

Glad the Cycle Workshop helped you out though.

  • Ah well my experiences with chain stores have always been terrible.

  • Vaidas Cycles.Consistently great. The new shop looks great as well.

Yeah, the refit actually had me worried they'd closed for good so I was pleased to see them back.

  • If you read a few posts up you will see someone writing about the Cycle Surgery at Wandsworth and how helpful the mechanic is.

I definitely have no problem with people choosing independent stores over chain stores, but deciding a chain store has terrible service without even trying just sounds daft, as the countless positive experiences at chain stores described here shows.

  • Cycle Surgery are quite a pleasant enigma in how they're pretty consistently helpful and knowledgeable.

Evans are very hit and miss. At best.

  • It's an awful company with great staff

  • Smith brothers in Wimbledon is my lbs, never had anything but good service from them. Always willing to help sort out my mistakes, give advice and lend me tools I don't have.

  • Huge thank you to Cycle PS for pretty much building my beater today. I only went in to get my wheels looked at and have ended up with a near complete build (just waiting to get the brakes put on). You've been great and very generous.
