  • James, if you come across any little track frames in a decent steel give me a shout :)

  • Baz - will do, we've got some really pretty frames in the paint shop as we speak that should be done very soon and up on the site.

Vintage stock is going up everyday on the website too. It's taking a little longer than I thought but each component gets cleaned and checked so this is where the time goes!

In the next few weeks we're looking to do some cool giveaways, everything from water bottles to custom paint.

  • Something pretty came in yesterday...

  • Something we recently finished!

"Check out Alexander's custom Specialized S-works.

Originally purchased in a tired, worn out paint-job we completely stripped the frame by acid-dipping and media blasting. We use such a fine grain of blast it's perfect for thin-walled tubes like this. All original stamps and logos are still present in the frame (most blasters are so rough they usually don't show through!)

Once we had the frame raw we gave it a internal and external inspection. Masking went on and we were ready in the booth for some satin black powder.

After curing at 200 degrees we cooled the frame and rubbed it down with 800 grit paper ready for the matte lacquer which went on very thin for that extra durable finish. Stone chips, what stone chips?

Alexander is really happy with the frame finish and he's built a stunning bike. Just the right amount of stealth!"

  • Over the last few weeks we've been mixing some custom colours inspired by 60s HotWheels. We've made some really cool colours but this is my personal favourite..

We started with a white primer to really bring the green out followed by a super metallic. Green, yellow, black, red and blue all went into mixing this colour. Just before lacquering we sprayed a very very light mist of black over the high points of the tubes where the light would hit if you were looking at it side on, this gives the frame a even glow, a small detail which you'd probably never notice but it does make a difference.

  • Hi all,

in the process of putting a brochure together so looking to powder-coat a frame for free to a few members of the forum. Ideally wanting fairly high-spec finished bicycles to show we work with all types of frames.

I'd ideally like some really good pictures once it's built up but if this was a problem I could travel to London to snap them.

    Thanks

  • Dibs

  • James I was thinking of having my shorter powder coated, the paint is in pretty good nick at the minute so it wouldn't be a dramatic transformation if that's what you were after.

That mercian is lovely by the way.

  • Would you like my matching Donohue 853 road and fixed bikes? Was thinking one pearlescent white with purple decals and the other metallic purple with white decals would be great, or opposing fades....

  • I have a Rossin with Super Record and a most appalling respray. I'm near Derby so was thinking about going to Mercian...but I could be tempted.
    Let me know

You can do my 1993 Cannondale R400 if you want.

  • Thanks for all your responses.

It's powder-coat so no fades sadly. We can do the frame a single colour and forks different if you so wish. If you guys could PM me with a picture of the bike that would be great. This brochure has to really show off our work so I've got to be quite picky as to what goes in and what doesn't.

  • Got a low - pro that could be painted ☺ also sweet job on the specilized!

  • Luke, PM me we'll talk!

    Few new updates with No Quarter, recently had a nice little feature on BikeBiz;

    http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/no-quarter-bikes-branches-out-into-frame-painting-service/016736

    Our powder-coat service has became very popular with our custom mix lacquer. Super thin and durable paint-job at a great price. A few weeks ago we stripped a Specialized stumpjumper that has seen better days - here it is now;

Lacquer is quite bumpy as we have yet to flat and polish but it's looking super. As you can see all delicate parts protected. This frame consists of 4 parts which have all received the same treatment.

Some seriously cool painjobs coming up soon which I'll post up. Matte black with fluorescents seem to be the thing! We've also got some beautiful vintage frames in which need full concourse restorations.

We're still looking for a few more frames to powder-coat as we're looking to completely pack the brochure. I'd be more than happy to travel but ideally anything who's pretty handy (or knows someone who is) with a digital SLR for some quality pictures.

    James

  • What's the time frame for the brochure? I'm picking up a steel track frame in a month that could do with some paint

  • Do you fancy coating it for the brochure?

otherwise I think I'll hang on for a paint in the new year

  • This Harry Quinn is my day to day bike but paint is pretty tired. Mix of campag and dura ace. If still need frames let me know

  • Got a tired-looking pink Roberts that's currently my audax bike and built with a Record/Chorus mix. 1980s frame - any use?

  • James I got a Principia 700 with lovely oversized tubes, let me know if you are interested!

  • PS - got any nice parts to suit an older British 531 frame?

After drive train, stem, bars, seat post, saddle, possibly wheels and some paint. :)

  • Hi all,

thanks for your replies and sorry for my late correspondence, still finding my way with this forum as I'm not sure how to subscribe to threads.

If you're interested in having a powder-coat job please feel free to PM me with a couple of pictures. The job is just for a single colour, no lacquer or decals applied.

Baz - yes I've got everything in stock for classic lightweights. If you PM me on here or through the website I can help you further.

Just wanting to update the paint side of the business. We've recently taken in some stunning carbon frames, some are going matte blacks, some are going zebra print..

Lovely Trek frame in for some work, we're in the process of stripping it, we've stripped the decals and now to mask all the black areas (very little paint) and rubbing down the white to reach the carbon clear-coat.

I'm going to be following this frame from start to finish with my camera..

  • I'll be following the progress of this project, I hear it haz some sweet fadez

    :^]

  • Has anyone had any contact/dealings with James from No Quarter? If so, could you PM me please. ta.
