Ruffy rear and rolly front?
-
• #703
One can argue that a more supple tyres would actually reduced the chance of puncture by deforming more over obstruct compare to frimer tyres preventing from it getting embedded.
Least that what I found with my Compass/Grand Bois tyres.

'Course if you're Indra, you're fucked.
-
• #705
Nah I use quite supple tyres on all of my bikes and I'm fine.

Ruffy rear and rolly front?
Thought about that too, but that would ruin my OCD ZEN inner circle :) Since the bike will not have a sealed BB, I can't see why it should have enforced tires either, it's all about the harmony :)
[do-not-read-will-not-happen]
When I later switch to a sealed BB, I will put Ruffy's :)

Ruffy rear and rolly front?
On a second thought, Ruffy has a kevlar belt and an extra millimeter of tread thickness, which might elevate rear end ever so slightly and slant the top tube just enough to be noticeable, which should look better than the straight horizontal top tube. Not sure if I'm trolling or serious. #OCD

You won't notice the extra millimetre, seriously.
tyres deform when you sat on the bike.
-
• #709
Extra millimetre, plus the kevlar belt!! Yeah I was trolling :)
I will go with the rollys front and back for some buttery action. Jesus, sometimes I think I will never complete the build. Not to mention I only have a few parts left, but can't finish it until September or August at earliest, too many separate jars to fill I guess.

I am building a Titanium Fixed city hack (CP thread here) and the frame /forks have big clearance.
I can easily fit 700x32 tyres so I am looking for some decent gumwall tyres to put on it. Or even 700x35.
The obvious choice is Panaracer Pasela 700cx32 which are £20 each at TREDZ but I thought I would post on here to get more advice but I buy them.
I guess @edscoble has the answer...

I'd interested in other options as well.

If you skip the gumwall, the 35 slick Kojak is amazing.

Still haven't found any durable but supple side-walled 28mm tyres.
Anyone? Bueller?

I run Durano and Durano Plus on a couple of bikes. Crazy durable but the Durano Plus in particular do nothing to soak up potholes. Even running them very low pressure they're better but not great and by that stage quite squirmy as well. Plus, heavy. But obviously more rubber = more durable = heavier.
-
• #716
Have you tried a Durano? (not the beefy Plus version).
Not really supple next to race tyres but as good as a Rubino Pro or something and tough as hells so great training tyres and not made by Continental.

"I run Durano and Durano Plus"

Maybe I should just put a Durano on my commuter. Problem is the Durano Plus takes soooooo long to wear out. It's gotta be 2-3 years old and considering my mileage that's fucking great.

FFS I'm not editing that even though I look ridiculous.
:)

Put a plus on the back.
Compromise.

Party up front, business out the back.

Hippy,
you tried RibMos or Maxxis Refuse?
-
• #723
Cheers @miro_o
Those Rivendell look good but I dread thinking about the price.
This online shop has a good selection of expensive tyres.
Unfortunately I don't have £100 to spend on a set of tyres that I will inevitably skid on...

Cough, conti gp4000s cough.
For hippy... -

^^ Buy ordinary tyres then, like everyone else who actually rides and leave the gumwalls for internet bikes ;-)
ooooh. You've done it now.
