Basically what all the other peeps are doing but GOOD. I mean, I'll eat anything after 100 miles and no sleep, but christ, what I'd do for something a bit more upmarket than 99% rusk snags and Value bread

• #428
A vegetarian option would be amazing, veggie sausages in a bap with Ketchup! I'd pay good money for that after 100 miles.
-
• #429
Might actually miss this ride as I will be probably be at my cousin wedding and no looking at getting out it due to how late it starts =(

A proper Cornish pasty! Not the mash veg with beef flavouring in a soggy greasy pastry parcel type.
-
• #431
Some warm pies
-
• #432
was all set to do my first DD then i get a call from my mum saying she needs me to help her move all weekend :(
-
• #433
get him to cook up a massive vat of carbonara or something like that, the fat and carb combo is ideal after a ride
-
• #434
A cup of strong coffee with lots of sugar in it might be a lifesaver at that point.

All seems pretty do-able - they have a big front beer garden and so plenty of space for bikes, food, people & bodies generally. They had a couple of decent Adnams on but not sure about that at 4 in the morning
Best guess as a newbie at the 100 mile mark would the riders be going past from about 3am onwards?

... (The Queens Head, Brandeston, IP13 7AD) which is on the route ...
Very very slightly off the route, unless I have it wrong. He'll need some sort of brightly lit "open pub 200 meters ==>" sign outside All Saints Church or almost everyone will miss it, because you won't be able to see it from the route.

Nope - you are correct - I it is about 50m off the route but still on the road that would head towards Framlingham. I was emailing Tim (landlord) saying a few signs up about a mile before hand with a "Turn left for beers/toilets and food" sign would be needed. I'll come back here with his feedback

I'd also suggest a sign at the junction of Old Maid's Lane and Low Street, because people who've missed the earlier signs will naturally wake up a bit and think about where to go next as they come to the give way line.

If you want to gain 100% marks for your answer to a complex maths exam question then you should show your workings - ie a full proof. Failure to do so could result in losing marks. A fool proof solution is to show a full proof in the margin and not to rely solely on a calculator as a record of workings.

A note that I made for myself at the end of the ride last year, I kept it aside to remind me for this year:
Get the map at the start, towards the end people spread and many don't know where they are going. You don't want to get lost and have to go back.
Even if the weather forecast says that there are 15 degrees do bring an extra sweater and a waterproof jacket.
Take a power nap towards the end. 20 minutes will make you feel reborn
Map? Do you mean route sheet? -
• #447
Very excited for this, I even managed to secure a last minute private coach ticket for £18.
-
• #448
The route won't change at all will it?
Kinda want a gpx or whatever I can put in my garmin but really unsure about doing it and then having a paper map that doesn't match up making for a huge confusion later in the night.
-
• #449
There's no "route" per se as this isn't an official ride. You're basically making your own way to the coast, probably using the same route as a bunch of other people, and probably using the same route that everyone has used for years previously.
-
• #450
If any doubt just follow the crowd. If you do end up lost at least you're lost with a bunch of other people.
I've just spoken to the landlord of my in-laws local pub (The Queens Head, Brandeston, IP13 7AD) which is on the route. He is happy to do something as a rest stop and so emailing me later on.
It is about 20 miles from Dunwich so are there any ideas or suggestions in terms of what might interest people? I was thinking bacon, fruits, cups of tea?
