    Boom.

Kele Okereke, singing Tenderoni, BBC coverage of Glatonbury 2010.

    Thanks.

That Crank Bros headset is one of the shittest I've ever owned. Water gets into the bearings really easy, bearing seals shit, rusty rusty, totally fucks everything up.

Looks like the Directset C (bearing steel) got slated by all and sundry due to a lack of rust prevention, but also those and the Directset SL (stainless) are described as "fragile".

Beautiful and I'd give one a try if anywhere else had them in stock. Not imported to the UK anymore?

  • So I'm going to E&C to watch the game tonight, my transportation options are:

    1. Get mugged on the 176 back to penge
    2. Get my bicycle stolen while riding back (but can be safely ensconced in a house during)
    3. Get my new, shitty chinese, motorbike stolen while parked (but faster and bigger for actual moving)

    Hmmmm. What do.

    1. taxi and do a runner
  • Get a black cab and then when near your home tell the driver you are a gay forrin who cyclist who works for Uber. He will likely kick you out and you get home cheaply.

  • Wear three stripe trackie bottoms and people will assume the bike is stolen so won't bother you.
Seriously though, E&C is not a rough area on a Sat night.

    ftfy

The utter pointlessness of football is only surpassed by actually leaving the house to watch it on a slightly different sized television with a bunch of pissed-up wankers getting in the way and spilling beer on you :-)

True say? This gentrification lark is getting everywhere...

  • three stripe trackie bottoms.

Follow up question: Is it fair or reasonable to assume posh bike + three stripes = nicked?

Every time I see someone pushing a dale with SLs down the road wearing matching fila I consider taking a photo but then I think maybe that's just what the cool kids look like these days.

  • Where are the best places online to find second hand modern road bikes? Thanks a lot

  • My new(used) Salsa Juan Solo needs a 1 1/8th external threadless headset. I believe the spec is EC34/30.

I have an FSA Orbit MX on the shelf, but it's white, and the frame is black and grey. Forks are black/carbon.

    What headset should I buy?
    Budget £25?
    Lightweight
    Decent seals
    black, grey, silver or red
    Tester approved...? ;-)

In case you haven't resolved this yet.

    How about a black MX?

  • I replaced my Crank Bros one with this Dia Compe:

    http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Dia-Compe-CB-2-Alloy-Headset_37465.htm

It's £35 but comes in a variety of colours and worked perfectly, nice sealed cartridge bearnings too.

  • Question on studying -

I am interested in doing a part time degree. I want to do it in London but i want to do a bridging or foundation course first. What are my options? I am thinking Maths. My problem is i havent done any maths in 10 years so need to build up confidence.

Where should I look for foundation/bridge courses in maths?

If you want to do a degree in Maths, the best place to start is A-Level Maths or A-Level Further Maths. You can do these part time/night school and complete them at your own speed.

My (Redbrick) Uni won't touch anyone that wants to do Engineering or Maths without a good A-level Maths Quals, as most degrees will have their syllabus set up to build on the skills they teach.

  • I am after a alternating black & silver chain. Like;
Doesnt have to be Izumi, I noticed there is a KMC Z510hx in this colourway. But these are low end chains (£10 worth) being sold for £25 or more. For this money I would rather buy two seperate chains, one black and one silver and make two!

But easiest would be to find an alternating one for about £15. Any ideas?

  • Have you considered choosing a chain based on its quality, rather than its colour?

  • I did but then I decided as the last 1/8 chain I purchased was a £2 one from asda and it functioned and lasted better than I needed it do that quality wise anything will do.

These sorts of chains are bring back vivid memories of bike lust, from 1980's bmx's. Always liked the look of them (nothing at all like the painted look of a full colour 'fixie' chain)

  • Use one black half link and it will have an even greater effect as it is more dilute.

  • ha lol

  • anyone know any decent caliper brake levers for risers that come in black?

currently use sram bl700's but they've become impossible to get over here it seems.

  • I'm sure someone has asked this before but I've searched and found nothing.

Any tips on removing very stiff, new tyres? I couldn't get it on in the first place and had a guy in a shop help me. It's a specialised Nimbus 700 x 28. Now I want to sell the wheelset and can't get it off...
