I made the forks, sure it can't be too hard to do. Also want to add in a few braze ons too.

I know at least one polo player who was trying and "successfully" managed to decrease the rake on his forks. It may have involved a wall and some "controlled" collisions, then eventually going to a frame builder and then some large scaffolding rods...

Yeah, but he couldn't control his bike beforehand either ;-)

The Salsa Vaya is a frame for 28'' wheels right? Did they just put 26'' on it?

27,5"

You can see how it look (standard) with the 650b 2.0 tyres.
Basically managed to turn it into more of a road-going 650b Fargo.

Ah thanks! Looks pretty good. Isn't it hard to get 650b tyres in certain countries when you are on a big trip?

Take spare then, you can use 26" inner tube with them.

Damn now I want one...
This one is also very good: http://www.flickr.com/photos/justridingalong/9743031516/

I just rebuilt the geekhouse.
Rode it to the shops. Best bike ever.
Now I want to go touring.Needs mudguards, and new wheels for road riding.
And a test for cx... -

What kind of geometry is your geekhouse? Low trails?
-
• #6639
Can't remember.
Its a bike. It works well for most things.(attached)

Massive trails like a CX bike then, was expecting a little less than that.

Crosspost from ebay finds, thought someone here might be interested (I just bought a pair myself): Crazy cheap 650b wheelset

He done gone fucked his rims.
spokes tension is too high and will crack it.
Look at the first picture, front wheel - assume the bulge in the rim around the nipples is what he's referring to.
Indeed, the Pacenti rims is very thin, they're great high performance rims, but will crack eventually if the spokes tension is too high over Pacenti's recommended tension, the bulge is normal, but the bulge on that bike is quite big.
Had a pair, my rear look like his front, but my front have a lots less bulge due to the spacing and lower tension, the front despite having a worn braking surface still remain true to this day and only be trued once after 4,000km.
But the rear have to be retired after discovering a lots of tiny crack on the spokes hole after 2,500km, that's largely due to the hubs spacing and offset that required a higher spoke tension (130mm with 10 speed hubs).
Late to the party here, but these Pacenti Rims are turd. Rims start to bulge at a low spoke tension and there have been plenty of reports of them cracking. Apparently they are being re-desgned to rectify the fault but I waiting for further reports.
Currently trying to bust them so I can rebuild the wheels with a set of Grand Bois 650b rims that I have sourced.
This bike is currently on holiday with me in Japan, has had a Brooks Cambium put on and is running a double speed drive train with a White Industries dual chainring and two Chris King cogs on the cassette.

Dinglespeed is great for holiday/travelling bikes. Superfunctional.
Yeah, road rides, grinding big hills, dirt tracks, light single track and 200km+ camping trips. There are few types of rides I haven't done on this bike

The redesigned Grand Bois 650b rims is definitely a great alternative, reasonably light (460g), very easy to mount tyres without levers, and actually mounted correctly when inflated, massive improvements (just did 1200km on them).

They do look damn good. Plus they don't have the aggressive box section profile of the pacenti rims which were doomed from the start with modern spoke tensions

The internal width is 1mm narrower, but you'll be hard pressed to notice the difference, it's nice to be able to ramp up the tension a bit to have a stiffer wheel for once.
Get a frame builder to do it.
