I really like that.
How much £? If you don't mind me asking?Soul's link^
Over your budget? Make us an offer!
I ended up paying £200 with next day courier.
Technicaly over my £100 budget for a daily watch, but as mentioned, the Omega did well on ebay so this was a bargain.

How are you getting on with this thing? Are all your watches now running to COSC standards? If you are in London I would mind you having a crack at a 7S26 I have, currently losing about a minute a day.
It's great fun to use, actually. Getting chronometer ratings depends on how recently the watch was last cleaned/oiled/adjusted and the quality/wear of the movement.
I put my Dad's 70's Omega Dynamic on, which had just been serviced, and it was running with 0mS beat error, and -1s per day accuracy which was consistent across positions. Pretty incredible.
My Omega '53 RAF watch hasn't ever been serviced in my ownership, but averages about +5s per day now that I've regulated it. However, there's probably about 30s per day difference between dial-up position and crown-down position. Cancels out depending on how it's worn though.
You're welcome to pop round any time when I'm in. I'm on Hackney Road.

Massive pocket watch with a terrible re-dial in a new case. Tat.

The inner seconds chapter ring must be handy give that it doesn't have a central seconds hand.

Hi folks. I'm in need of your expertise. I don't know so much about watches, and as it was ending i put a hasty bid in for a watch pretty much the same as the one on this link; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/genuine-vintage-SEIKO-5-AUTOMATIC-JAPAN-MENS-D-D-WATCH-WITH-WARRANTY-BID-2-WIN-/181410112307?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2a3ce2a333
(sorry for shit link-ness) my watch was bought off these same people. It's an awesome colour green, and doesn't have the 'Japan made' bit. but other wise the same. Im not fussed if its genuine really, except its stopped. And sending it back to india doesn't really appeal (costs and such). I've taken it to an H Samuels who say if its fake, they'd have to confiscate it! Any advice on the real-ness of it. and what to do?
Cheers!!! -

I'd be surprised if fake - not enough vale in a Seiko 5 to bother faking? My just have been badly put back together if a re-dial?
If you pop the back the. The movement will tell you straight away.
What did you pay?

I paid about £30.
Its a smooth movement compared to a normal quartz watch (not ticking per se as much as humming round), but I can't get it to move other than adjusting the hands.Worth sending back you think? maybe trying a local watch mender, or would that be really expensive?
Thanks for the help too!

No ticking when you hold it to your ear? I had a Seiko Monster die on me like this a good few years ago but that was from brand new.
Worth finding a little independant watchmaker to take a quick glance 'under the hood'. Could be catstrophic failure, could be dead simple. A little man in a booth may not even charge you to take a quick squint.
This 'confiscate a fake' bit sounds like crap to me though by the way (but then I wouldn't let an H Samuels drone change a battery on a Swatch)

That's the 40 mm one, if I'm not wrong, and it uses the same case and movement as the Squale 20atmos, which Gnomon are about to get back into stock at a slightly lower price. Nice watch BTW.
Rootbeer might be a thing…

Cheers. I think I know a place.
I went to H Samuel because i figured they'd know. I also wanted a strap for an old school digital casio, and a battery, and they could do neither.
