Sort of... it's the Copernican revolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copernican_Revolution) which Swatch relates their new movements advances to.
Obligatory wrist shot:
Update on this...
The movement and power reserve is incredible. After very little time wearing it last week, it lasted for about 80 hours, in my watch box, until this morning. The second hand doesn't quite sweep (i'm guessing it runs at 21,600bph) but it's still a marked improvement over the quartz tick!
The one thing I didn't like was the strap. The lug ends were far too stiff which left it sitting awkwardly on the bones in my wrist. Luckily, it fits the same strap size as the 'New Gent' range, of which I have a few, so I swapped the strap for a black rubber one (ASUOB702 if you're interested) and it's so much better.
I love it.

How long do you reckon one of these would work for?

Ha! I bought a Lolex Daytona a few days ago on holiday. £35 and looking at the 'how to tell a fake' tutorials they've now got the face right and the back right even if the hands aren't quite correct and the o ring is missing from the winder. Functionality is correct too! But yeah, I give it a couple of months realistically. Still, the idea was to use it for my first watchenstein, so when it does die I get to play around with faces, hands, movements etc.

In more serious news...
As savings are currently earning next to nothing, what watches would make a decent investment?
I ask this a little tongue in cheek, I'm not looking to make money from buying and selling watches, I just wondered if there was anything in particular that was worth buying that I could potentially sell at a later date and not lose on
Every single military watch which I bought has increased in value. I reckon they probably always will too.
Classic Omega designs are always a safe bet. The 70's models tend to be quite cheap just now, and I think they may come more Into fashion with a little time. For example, I used to think the 70's Speedmaster was a bit ugly, but now...

I think I might get one, though it's hardly necessary.

Remembered I never posted my Seamaster. Got it from Jammy very cheap, as there were a few issues with it and the inside was very grubby.
Took it to the yellow watch shop in clerkenwell, they were excellent and cleaned and replaced various parts to get it looking like this.
Super happy with it and has been my everyday watch since getting it. I feel its my first proper grown up watch. Well apart from by Cortébert but im too scared to wear that for fear of damaging it.
Very tasteful.

safe bet. mens rolex prices do not drop in the resale market. keep the box and the papers. dont buy stolen or something with suspect provenance.
I asked a similar question a while back and the most common response was a steel Rolex sports watch.
In the end though once you factor in Entry price, insurance and servicing it adds up. So I just went with putting it into an ISA.

Should invest in whiskey if you are after a profit.

It's been seven weeks now since I unfortunately lost my Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra at a gig in Berlin. It's taken a while to get the insurance claim sorted out but that's it all in now, including the box which the loss replacement contractor requested. Hopefully I'll have a favourable outcome.

As regards investments, no they are not.
Every single one of my Omega and Heuer watches would now in theory sell at more than I paid. Sometimes a lot more, but this is to some extent down to buying at very good prices in the first place. However, in order to keep them in decent condition and achieve a top resale price I'd have to fork out so much in servicing over the years that it would probably wipe out my profit. And anyway I bought them because I wanted them, so I'd never sell any of them.

How easy is it to switch Seiko bezels between the same models?
-
• #12295
Which model do you have?
-
• #12296
The solar diver chrono... I don't actually have it. I just like the Pepsi bezel version but not the blue face. They're not that expensive, so switching and selling the unwanted combo would still be fairly reasonable.
I've started window shopping for Pepsi bezels, and I really like that one out of all that I've found.
-
• #12297
It should be pretty simple. You can pop the bezel on and off with the blade of a knife. The other one should just snap back on.... I think this model uses the little ball bearing in the case so watch for that falling out.
-
• #12298
Huh, didn't know it's that easy, will try and replace the one on my SKX007.

When putting the bezel back on, it can be quite difficult. The best way to get two hard back books, put the watch (face up), on one of them then put a tea towel or dish cloth on top of the watch / bezel. but the other book on the top and put all you weight on it. It should pop back on quite easily.
maybe a week, maybe a year, maybe even longer
