I think this thread is entirely brilliant, so no I don't think 'hipster' is invalid. I guess it does as greenhell said get used a lot by us lot, and those hipper than us, to make us feel more authentic.

In the end, it's about saying 'actually no, that's just stupid' about when things get a bit silly, but are generally in the ball park of things we dig. It's saying, yeah, but actually too much so no.

At least pikey pubs are entertaining and generally friendly in my experience. The pub at hillingdon station is fucking bril on a Friday when everyone's been paid. Always a sing-song, raging argument or punch up to enjoy. Admittedly I'd only want to be part of the singing but at least the beer will be cheap. Pretty sure I was a massive hipster at Uni, glad I've recovered..
