looking like a great group, I'm going to ping a few more souls, see if we can't bump it up a little more...

• #104
Think I can make this.
-
• #105
social pace or silly pace bruce!?
-
• #106
Silly. Silly silly, since fixed silly.
-
• #107
Do it Skully, the farnborough group won't be silly. Braker keeps the pace stable, like a metronome.
Oi! You calling me fat?

Fair enough, but I suspect everyone else will be on gears :)

No I'm calling you sociable.

Hmm. I'm not exactly match fit at the moment and I have nothing with gears (nothing complete, anyway). I guess I should start from Farnborough.
I've ridden between Bradford on Avon and Bath both by the hilly route and the canal path. The latter is picturesque but can be a bit crowded on a nice day. I recall seeing one guy on a cargo trike - big, front-loading Tamar-style thing - and thinking it must be awkward to navigate through some parts of the path; as I passed him I realised that the route had probably been dictated by the girl sitting in the front on a big pile of cushions, reading a book, glass of red wine in the other hand.

Really hoping I can get up to requisite fitness to join the fast group. Seems a relatively flat route...

I'd completely forgotten about this
now i'm remembering
tonight I will try to remember to leverage leave pass
-
• #118
just so I'm clear - I've never quite understood (not) TNRC speeds quoted.
is 16-18mph:
1) try and pootle along at 16-18 on anything +/- 3% gradient, or is it;
2) ride at 20+ then faff about and throw a hill in and end up with a strava average of 17mphbecause they are two very different things.

• #119
TNRC/WNKR standard is supposed to option 1)
-
• #120
that's what I was afraid of.
I'm too much wanker to be a WNKR.:(
-
• #121
Zanda, i'm thinking that'll be an average speed for the whole route but tbh I know you'll be fine so why worry?
-
• #122
I think zanda just doesn't want to go slow?
-
• #123
I'm toying with the idea of joining this, esp as I'm local to Bath. If I was to do it fixed, what's the ballpark for an appropriate gear ratio? It's a pretty flat route, no?
-
• #124
I'll be on 66" in the slow group.

It's very flat and very doable fixed, along as you keep away from the 20mph speed demons.
Would be keen but marathon running the next day :-(
