The idea was to change the settings to location = US, currency = USD.
It'll give the US price.
If you then us XE.com. You can see if thats better than the UK price.
My bad - I'd forgotten that you could change the location on the Rapha site...

Same old sizing question...sorry but not sure about raphamans answer...
Classic bibs.
I'm 31" waist, 6' and lean build, awkward looking but GSOH.
Rapha say size S as they are generous fit, really?
I'd always go for M normally in anything else, really don't want to be sliced by the straps. -

Classic bibs, sized up (medium) unless you're a proper race fit.

I just got a pair of cross 3/4 in M as I wear M in Assos and others. They are slightly too large for me and think S would have fit perfect.
Im 5"7 and 31 waist

Planning a visit somewhere tomorrow, DJ?
If, in theory, something was to potentially happen, where and when may it occur?

I have to do this all the time. I'm based in Norway. So they automatically include expensive import tax in the price. So everything ends up being Nice but overly pricey.

Arent the cross the same cut as the ProTeam?
I'm 5'7" and a 31" waist and a medium is slightly small on me. In a really nice way when Im on the bike. But theres always a 'shit these are tiny' moment when I put them on.
So its a tricky question.
Having said that. Assos have short straps, with the rest of the short being of similar sizing as a Rapha ProTeam IMHO.

The bibs fit fine, its just the straps were slightly loose, no where near as tight as my assos.
Perhaps I had pulled them up too high...

Thats exactly what I was saying.
This is exactly why I'd pay for Rapha. When IMHO you can get a better bibshort from Assos for less.

You would or wouldnt pay for Rapha?

Would. The Proteam medium shorts fit uber snug, much like a medium Assos TBH. But as I'm an XL in tops (XXL in some stuff), the Assos straps are just too fecking short. With Rapha I get a Pro fit on my very un-pro like body.
Cant help but feel this all part of Raphas policy of tageting the aspirations of MAMILs (me).

Ah ok....so seems you have a longer body than me if we are the same height...
The pad on the cross bibs is great but makes me look like a baboon on heat whilst the assos pads have a much lower profile.

Questions:
Merino gloves, any good? Need something to take the chill off on colder mornings, but nothing too warm.
Also, if I'm between sizes (medium and large), which should I go for? Just after opinions really, I know it's hard to say. The mediums are a touch short in the fingers but great in the palm, while the larges are good in the fingers but a little 'bunchy' in the palm.

Defeet Dura wools, save your bucks and get them instead.
-
• #16070
Or just regular Defeet gloves. Cheap and effective.

Please tell me you are in the arctic or someplace similar and not in UK needing merino gloves at this time of year?

Funny Rapha sizing, the 32s were too small.
I blame villa-ru.
Ha! Don't blame me for your middle aged spread.

I'd always go a little larger with gloves.
Could just wear some liners in this weather

I have the DeFeet Duraglove Wool and the Rapha Merino Gloves.
The Merino Gloves are completely glorious. The most comfortable gloves I've ever used, and the best Rapha gloves I've tried. Work exactly as described, perfect for chilly mornings, without getting too sweaty when it warms up a bit.
The DeFeets work, and they're warmer (and more sweaty) but because they're less structured (they're just all knitted) they move around a lot more. They don't have any palm padding either, just a grippy print. Having said that, for the money, they're great and I do use them.
The one potential weakness the Merino Gloves have is that the merino on the back is thin and smooth, and seems like it might be vulnerable to being snagged. I haven't damaged mine yet but a couple of times I've brushed the back of my hand against a wall or bush and thought 'oh bollocks'. And they are, of course, pricey.
You coming tomorrow?
