  • Needs an "oh you" caption.

  • or "here comes another ludicrous request that I won't understand"

  • Great shot. One of my favourites you've posted. Crit alert: dirt spot at 3 o'clock.

  • Cheers! The dirt is on the wall, not the camera thank fuck, I don't think you can clean an X100 sensor.

  • well / will, like both of the cone shots.

    CONES -
    THE NEW FENCES

    lol.
but seriously, well is it's makes me smile as it's a funny little bunch of (different) cones.
will's is just a nice photograph.

  • Cones and fences.

  • Cones on people

  • Olympus OM-D E-M1 or Fujifilm X-T1?

My understanding is that the Olympus has a better EVF (especially when it gets dark), and faster AF. Fuji should win in IQ, and DoF control.

I have not yet tried them myself, but at least according to the pictures, Olympus' grip seems more substantial. And I like it comes with the 12-40mm 2.8.

Anyone here have experience with both? At the moment I am leaning towards the E-M1 because of the EVF, AF, and 12-40mm combo.

  • Feeling a bit stupid at only just discovering this, but apparently the Nikon D7000 has a back focusing problem that can be adjusted with AF fine tuning

I'm going to have a play when i get home tonight, i was just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this and if they got noticeably good results.

I'm still not convinced that I don't just have untrustworthy eyes

  • It's a huge issue with mine. Can't tell if it's the lens because it doesn't seem as bad with one of them

  • Have you tried adjusting it with AF Fine Tuning?

As far as I can tell it should save your settings for up to 12 lenses I think

  • Indeed.
I see a family of cones on a picket line.
Or possibly cones lining up to take a height test so they are allowed on the water slide.
They're obviously just the usual cone suspects.

  • That would be "precisely" only if the suspects would not be the usuals.

  • Have you tried adjusting it with AF Fine Tuning?

Been putting off playing with it as I don't use it that much really. That's good to know it'll save though, going to have a play with that tomorrow.

    You had any luck?

    Yours?

Nah. Martin Parr suggests you buy that book though...apparently

  • Martin Parr is a jerk...

  • Oh go on then, I'll do it - why is he a jerk?

  • Actually a friend of mine has very differnet experience with him and he worships him. It was a few years ago when I was doing research for my, well, research paper. Contacted a number of photographers, famous and not famous including Martin Parr and Simon Norfolk. They either got back to me to say they are happy to help, or they are very busy but can spare 5 mins and no more etc, or just simply ignored me. Mr Parr, replied to me within 24 hours with an essay long reply saying how busy he is, how many students would contact him on a daily basis, and if he spends time replying to everyone and offers help to everyone then he will have no time to do his own work etc. Can't remember the exact content of the email, but it was not far from telling me off for contacting him, and if he could write that long an email with list of reasons why he can't answer a few simple questions, surly he'd have the time to just answer a couple of questions? Told my tutors about my experience and was told, "yap, we have heard it all..."

Then went for a talk a while after that, he is nothing but an arrogant asshole.

Simon Norfolk is a very very nice guy on the other hand.

However, the biggest jerk of all has to be Rankin. Oh yes, I have a few interesting stories about him.

  • I'm considering getting a 100D for its compact size, however last time I had a dSLR I had the standard 50 1.8, but found it a bit too long

are there any cheaper worth looking at than the 35mm f2

  • EF 40mm f2.8 STM?

  • even more pancakey! cheers

  • The 100D has a fucking stupid name in this country, but here it is with the 40mm.

  • never understood the multiple naming for the same models

That looks like a great little combo though :)

  • hmm I'm tempted with that 40mm for my Sony A7R. It's only $199 instead of the $800 usd that Sony want for their 35mm ( I already have Canon mount adapter for A7R)
