  • I recently borrowed an Imacon Ixpress digital back which I am using with my mf Hasselblad 500C/M which has been fun, but I'm finding some dirt speckling in the images which I didn't experience when using film. I'm not sure therefore if the back has dirt in/on it that is coming up in the images or whether it is so sensitive that it is showing up dirt in the camera that doesn't register when using film. It's not the lens, but I only have one medium format back to try it with so I can't rule that out, though I have cleaned the mirror and indeed the digital back... Anyone got any experience of this sort of thing? Here's an image which shows the problem...

  • Need less green tint.

  • Much thanks. Photoshop and too much time. I'm having a bit of an identity crisis with imagery these days so it's all a bit explosive. Mostly it's the god like camera. The only thing that didn't work the other day was my shitty ice cold hand.

    really like that one

  • If it's dirt on the sensor it should get less obvious when you open the lens aperture. Not seen this back myself but on a medium format back the sensor surface should be quite easy to see no?

  • When you cleaned the Digi back, did you do a proper wet clean, or just blow it with air?

  • Yes, it looks like this

Been over it with the brush supplied but not wetted as it seems clean.

They have a wonderful tone to them - I'm attracted to them like I am with film pictures.

Are these presets in lightroom, or all done in photoshop?

I love taking pictures - it's the laborious editing process I don't enjoy all that much. Am I able to batch edit a whole load of photos with vsco in lightroom?

  • Am I able to batch edit a whole load of photos with vsco in lightroom?

Aye. You can apply a preset when you import or do it within the develop module with copy/paste on a batch.

  • Fantastic. I'll have a look at that. Any recommendations on using vsco or is it pretty straight forward?

  • Its pretty simples. Their portra presets are quite good.

  • Well worth the money if you don't like spending time editing. One of the very few very well made Preset packs. I prefer Photoshop, but then I like sitting in total darkness making disco noises.

  • /

  • very nice though, love colours & composition

  • Cheers - its a bit wonky looking at it now.

Its actually a colour grading sample for video...

  • Cones - are they the new fences?

  • They're a type of fence. Those ones even have a bit of rope along the top just in case you weren't sure their purpose was to act as a form of boundary.

    ^nice shot btw. Loose cleat?

  • Indeed.
I see a family of cones on a picket line.
Or possibly cones lining up to take a height test so they are allowed on the water slide.

  • Just watched the Tim Hetherigton doc on i-player. He shot on film too but well worth seeing.

  • Amazing photos

    or sync?

  • I like my X20 and so does Nellie, regardless of her expression.

  • I like that.

  • Very nice
