Quick question for the CPC threaders - how common is it for a frame builder to not 'face' the headtube? It's all complete news to me (both, what facing actually is, and that a builder/provider (huge WAC scenes) would release a frame without being faced).
And also, does anyone know anyone that can face an OS (1.25") titanium headtube in London?...

Stock steel frames used to be sent to shops without being faced, because the paint protected the bare metal while they hung in the shop for months at a time. There's no excuse for not facing at the frame factory with aluminium or titanium.

The 1975 Speedwell Titanium Pista with period components is getting there...
New 75`weyless seatpost, ttt track stem, (extremely expensive, heavy but sexy) early ttt track bars, still need 111mil omas ti bb axle to fit the ta cranks and a decent pair of wheels.
and one in the new living room with all the bikes minus the 81 ex Danny Clark De Rosa Pista (which is in my office)

Tubeset aside, who or what does racelite stand for? First seller seemed to be UK based.. manufacturer / builder? There is a stamp on the BB that seems to read "LA 2 11 200*".

Bought a heavy Volume Cutter frame two weeks ago and painted it fluoro yellow
(not easy to get the colour right on the picture).
With the reinforced frame it is a nice city commuter/pub bike. And with a 43mm rake fork it still has some tight clearances. That's really smart looking man, good work!

When I was racing cotswold league at the turn of the century, Avon Valley Cyclery team (based in Bath) rode those.
If you phoned them there may be someone still at the shop that knows the history (IIRC they sold them in the shop)

Slung some 6600 bits on this prelude (? SLX and racetag...).
Going to try and fit guards on and have as a hack/baby carrier. To change:
Bars for flat tops (nitto for the classic look or more likely, Bontrager ones - like on the Pennine),
longer chain,
guards,
proper cable outers for the gears. -

I have a white Regal knocking about, but I don't do white.
Anyone have a black one they want to swap for it (or a better condition Flite?)

Anyone tried Soma double leather straps? How are they quality wise?

Trying out some drops on the vigorelli.
Getting a new rear wheel built this week too, the one pictured is a loaner.

Dumb question time, but how can you tell whether a brake will fit here without getting mashed by the cranks, is there a specific term for it?
-
• #91021
It's highly unlikely that the brake will get mashed by the cranks, providing you get those short reach brakes on.

Any ideas on (full) mudguards with low profile? I'd like to keep running 25c, but even raceblades seem a bit tight under the rear calliper.

Apparently Bontrager have stopped making their SSR VR-C bars.
What are the alternatives for 26mm clamp size compact drops?
-
• #91024
Run 23mm and fit SKS Chromoplastic.
Not much choice if your clearance is that tight unfortunately.
