Is it weird to run 23c on the rear and a 25c on the front?
-
• #91029

-
• #91030

I'm going to tripple check tomorrow its full in the dropouts, even though i know it is
-
• #91034
how does rim width have such a significant effect on the outer tyre circumference?
-
• #91035
A more narrow rim will give the tyre a taller and thinner profile.

Duh! I misread your original post. I thought it said you didnt realise how wide these rims were not your old ones. Still, its seems unusual. I have had tight tolerances on three steel road bikes I have had, but there has always been miles of space under the brake.

that's more to do with where the brake bridge is placed though

Either way, I think i'm going to have to sell those tyres, unless pro bike kit aren't fuss about the boxes being a little ripped up.

Dumb question time, but how can you tell whether a brake will fit here without getting mashed by the cranks, is there a specific term for it?
you need delta

Only thing to do, really, is buy 25mm wide HED Ardennes+

who has copied and made cheaper version of HED Ardennes+?

EE Cycleworks also fit well:

They're the only 25mm training rims that I'm aware of, and come in a a bunch of different hole-counts.
I'm not entirely sure of the difference between the whole FR, CL etc in the HED wheel builds, but I think you can get them rim only.

@ spotter Why not run 25/23?
I know it s the opposity way you'd usually do it, but it doesn't matter that much.

I don't think there is a proper copy but the BHS CW472 aka kinlin XC279, is a pretty good cheap alternative. Otherwise as tester pointed out the other day there's the flo 30 which is c.$80usd iirc.

My current wheelset is built from kinlin XR200 bought from BHS; would rep the shop and look into ^ those rims :) ta

Talk about throwing good money after bad.
I'd use the road bike as a road bike and fit 23s.
Thanks Ed. That's what I was thinking I'd have to do.
I have some Deda Piega on another bike actually, I don't why I didn't think of that. Can't stretch to Noodles unfortunately!
