What lights are people around here finding work well on a helmet? Someone I work with asked me, I have no clue.

• #3329
Front or rear?

Bear in mind that he would still need a lights on his bike if he's thinking of running helmet light only.

None.

It depends on what it's for as well I suppose. I've used a Blackburn flea before to help be seen, the Velcro strap makes it really easy to attach.

There's a guy where I work who seems to use nothing but two naff helmet lights. When its dark and he turns his head sideways he virtually disappears as the lights are no longer visible.
IMO there fine for off-road but for on road I prefer my main and supplementary light on the bars. If one's flashing I think they're hard to miss.

This conversation is so typical of lfgss these days. We have no idea of the requirements Skully's friend has, but the moralising has begun already.
-
• #3335
Well the requirement would initially be that they work in the usual role of lights for cycling...

Helmet lights are the tool of the devil. Ban them! You're all wrong! Drivers should pay more attention! It's the government's fault! Fucking Daily Mail! Comments....did you read them!!! etc...

Modded a Lezyne Femto to use as a bar end light, needs tidying up but pleased with how it looks.

That's sick.

Just stating my observation of a "disappearing" cyclist and my thoughts. Not intended to be "moralising".

^^ How did you 'mod' the femto?
-
• #3342
+1 to the sickness of the bar end... I'm totally doing that...
Ruttland cycling are selling exposure joysticks for £89 (rrp 189 according to the site), is that a good deal or does everyone actually charge that much? Might be an answer to your friends helmet light question skulls.

Snapped the clip off the Femto (which felt bad), then M3 bolt through the back of the Femto case and the bar plug with washer and nut on the inside of the bar plug. Bit of filing to make everything fit reasonably snug. You can still unscrew the Femto to change the batteries.

Anyone got an Exposure helmet mount handy and could check what size the bolt is?

• #3345
I do; could bring in to work tomorrow; I am on great portland st

Thanks for the offer Amey. I've got one at home that I can check tonight, was going to pop out the the shop this lunch time and get a replacement bolt but forgot to bring it today...
Not urgent, was just in case someone reading the thread and had one sat next to them.

Anyone got any recommendations for head torches? Going mountain biking and have discovered my £3 from costco head torch is really not good enough.
-

When you buy most of the Chinese cree lights (up thread) you get a head-strap-thingy. I have a spare of these. Anyone is welcome to it for the price of the postage.
