  • My fizik aliante is the best I've used aside from my brooks swift. Tbh I don't think it gets much better than a brooks after a few years of use.

  • The charge spoon saddles seem popular. As are Fizik Ariones, Specialized Romins, Selle SLRs, San Marco RegalEs etc.

Buy some of the popular models 2nd hand off ebay and see how you get on.

  • Another nod for the arione, never been more comfy in my crummy bibshorts. The spoon is a decent saddle for the price.

  • Haven't tried this yet but it's been recommended by some forumungers...

  • +1 for Supercorsa. Also like the turbo on my ss

  • /me rolls eyes at yet another discussion about saddles. Too personal to give an objective assessment.

  • Go to condor. Try test saddles.

  • Saddle fit is a very personal thing. However, regardless of your arse dimensions, give the Selle San Marco Rolls a try just in case. It's like sitting on a comfy sofa. And it looks classy as fuck.

  • How is the bike fit? Is the saddle appropriate for the position you are riding in, is the saddle at the correct height, what about the fore and aft positioning?

Internetz saddle guidance is about as valuable as interwebz bike fitting.

  • I've had everything from a leather Brooks, padded Selle Italia to the peice of plastic Unicanitor I am using now. The comfort all come down the perfect seat angle for me, after that the saddles were all as good as eachother after that.

  • measure your ischial tuberosities against whats available

  • only snakes will do for me

  • no bull

  • Charge bucket, anything turbo-esq

You can't go past the SLR superflow for comfort IMO.
Has a massive 'relief channel' to avoid getting your dick, balls and arse getting mashed together if that's your problem.

  • All saddles will be uncomfortable if the bike fit is off. I was going through saddles until I got Adrian Timmis on the case - one bike fit, sorted.

  • There's already a thread with tonnes of knowledge on this subject:

It's all about your sit bones and finding a saddle that is right for your size and shape and positioning it correctly. I've been through loads...I guarantee that a selle italia max flight gel flow will work for you - so will selle...they offer 30 days money back. I have a black or white you can have for £50. Max SLR is also good...though less padding and more £

  • Has anyone had any experience with the charge scoop? I've heard many good things about them.

  • i use a brooks or a fizik saddle and get on well with them fine.

    This^

Saddle fit is 40% gooch size/shape (sitbone Width etc.), 40% gooch positioning (hip angle etc.), and 20% riding style (weight distribution etc.).

So basically you can measure yourself all day and not get more than 40% of the Picture.

  • buy every saddle you see (2nd hand preferably).
set each of them up dead level (save some brooks).
ride on each for a week.
keep what you're on or try for better.

some saddles are great in bibs but shit in trousers/ jeans.
you haven't said what the saddles for: if you're in normal clothing and commuting get a spongy as fuck cushion and enjoy cruising.

  • My best saddle for use With jeans is definitely my Spyder.
