First of all, let me introduce my new Scorched Earth Fixed Gear ATB made by Chris Schmidt of good grief cycles located in Colorado springs...
And I'd like to discuss pedal options, especially if running some sort of straps or going clipless or just using a flat pedal, which I started off with.
While it's comfy and without any hassle and I can just use the pair of shoes I wear atm, the obvious disadvantage, at least for me, is not having a real good option of stopping/skidding.
Riding off road - but not racing, what would be you choice and why?
Cheers
PS: I already swapped some parts and dialed in the saddle height...

Hi!
I recently acquired this frameset in hope of some proper fit to my needs.
As it appears it was made by the two brothers R & J Quinn - but I can't find much information led alone some sort of advert or catalogue of their work.
As I don't actually have the set in my possession yet, I can't provide more details such as a frame number. Still, from the looks of it, I assume it was made in the 1950s.What you think?
Cheers,

Hi there,
I am offering my Rock Lobster up for sale. Paul Sadoff built it for me back in 2018 as a singlespeed monstercross, i.e. dropbar with relative high stack up front. Due to an injury I need a more upright position and the Lobster is to short for me...
For sale is either the frameset (frame, forks, seatclamp) or with some more parts, including a White Industries headset and a fillet brazed stem (made by Konstantin Drust in Berlin).
Basic specs are:
TT: 56.5cm effective
ST: 54cm CTC
HT: 1 1/8 straight, 17cm
BB: 73mm BSA
Seatpost: 27.2
AC: 44.5cm
Rake: 50mm
Paragon Rocker DPs with both 135/142 inserts, PM in the rear and 100mm with ISO up front.Build around 700c X 45mm tires but 2.2 both front rear are possible.
Price for the bare frameset 890€ plus shipping from Germany; for the lot it's 1300€ plus shipping. Costs for that should be around 40€ insured.
I'll take some pictures but the one below is the actual state. Paintjop has a lot of patina and could be renewed at some point.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me a pm.
Cheers,

Hi!
I've this lovely fillet brazed stem, made by Alex Meade in Maine for analog cycles.
1"; usable lenght 15-16cm, overall length 22cm! 0mm reach and a 31.8mm clamp
Used only briefly but the reach is to short for my liking after all. Would work really good on any vintage touring or mountain bike to get the bar where it belongs. No weird handling. Promise!
I'd like to ask 85£ plus approx. 13£ shippinh costs from Germany.
Cheers

Thanks! Thats lovely. I contacted @nankatsu about it and we will talk, if the set isnt gone already...
Have a good weekend!

Yah, @retrodicorsa's Gillot is awesome but propably to small indeed. From the pics, clearing wider tires on 700c might problematic?
And the one from @nankatsu would be perfect. We chatted already but he prefered a collection as well ... I would take it immediately.

@mig Thank you very much for your kind offer.
I am active in retrobike as well for several years, only ctc hasn't been a place for me.
Regarding frame specs, yes I am aware and of course purposefully hoping to find something nice with more clearance. As I want to ride it as a fixed gear dirt tourer 120mm is absolutely fine...
Cheers

I've got one with setback but would ship from Germany hence probably not worth it...
And of course @packet should be first in line to offer :)
