LFGSS and Microcosm shutting down 16th March 2025 (the day before the Online Safety Act is enforced)
LFGSS has been a near daily part of my life for 14 years. It pre-dates meeting my wife, getting my first job and eventually leaving London (and the UK). I have learned more from the people 'on here' than I did from university, and I feel grateful to have been able to contribute back to the community on occassion. I haven't met many of you in real life (except that one time @hippy appeared after I was punched in the face) but the familiarity built up through years of reading your posts is something I will miss greatly if it disappears. Thanks Velocio for everything you have done and continue to do. I hope there is a solution that allows LFGSS to continue in as similar a form as possible.

They are low end SRAM cranks, so quite heavy, but there's nothing 'wrong' with them. Is the price of a new BB more than the price of a replacement crankset and a new BB from a different standard? The good thing about those cranks is that they still use cheap and easily replaceable chainrings rather than direct mount.

If you can take some measurements of the old one then it should be a very simple part to model. I can't quite work out its function, is it just a low friction layer between the wood and the tuning peg? I would worry that a lot of 3D print materials would creep under constant force from string tension. I would happily make one from POM on a lathe if you get the dimensions.

DT Swiss now offering a SP hub with their stickers and straight pull spokes. I can see the appeal of matching hubs.

I've had decent luck with UHU Porcelain
I haven't used it on anything that goes through the dishwasher though, mainly on serving dishes and tiles. -

Having just started with home espresso, I can't comprehend how you can get a good shot first time with a different coffee every day. I just opened a new bag, and keeping the grind the same as I was reliably getting 25-28s shots before, I got a 15s shot this morning.
How can I try new coffee without repeatedly wasting 2-3 shots of every bag? -

If you're planning for 50mm tyres, then 1x is a no brainer. I'm happy with XPLR for 90% of my riding. The only time XPLR is limiting is if you're riding in a group, sometimes the gaps in the gearing can mean you have to hold a slightly awkward cadence. Eagle with a MTB derailleur will great if you're Ultras with really challenging terrain.

It looks like there's plenty of clearance to the chainstay, so you could have a look if someone has assembled a spacer where it isn't needed. Also worth double checking that the whole crank is assembled properly. I once fiddled about with a front mech for 10 mins before realising a wave washer was missing and the whole crank could slide around in the BB.
So it's just reminding you that no one has told you those things? I would put a comma at the end of the first line just to make sure there's no misunderstanding.
