Thanks for the mini fahg advice guys.
Don - I didn't have any dry lube so I cleaned it up and threw a small bucket of wet lube at it. Very satisfying mechanics now.
Ta.OK that will help for sure !!. If you get the chance on the next re-lube and have the ability to use the Teflon DRY, let me know what you think. FYI...All Kryptonite locks will come from the factory with Finish Line Teflon DRY coated inside starting this fall!

I've had the mini fahg for about 5 months. Recently it has started getting really stiff when trying to unlock. Is there a particular reason for this? It's rarely in the rain so I don't think it's rust.
I've dripped a bit of wet lube into it. Will this help or was that an awful idea for the internal lock mechanics?Chung. Just like a car, you need to change the oil, so for a lock it sounds like its time ot change the oil. If you do not have some in your tool kit, go get Finish Line DRY Teflon Lube in the black/red bottle and give the lock some new life. This Finish Line DRY Teflon Lube is going to make that Mini Fahgettaboudit sing. First be sure you clean with a rag any of the old lube dirt and grime off the shackle and inside the deadbolt area. Then lube. Follow up with this every 3 months or so and the lock is going ot function perfectly- Don

Just received the Fag from Parker International which is listed as the place to buy it at the start of this thread. However, there was no key replacement, no light key instructions and no insurance paperwork inside. There's also no code printed on the large key. Both my other Kryptonite locks have a number printed on the large key and are also a different shape. Is this legit? Is this what the keys are like for this lock? I don't think the key replacement programme is used in the UK so that doesn't matter. I also won't be using the insurance as I'm not too worried about this thing being broken into. But I just want to know that the lock is the real thing and won't fail on me. It seems to lock exactly the same.
Here's the keys:
Joseph,
This is a New York Fahgettaboudit Mini, so no issue there. Strange that the lock would have come to you in that way missing the support docs. If I look at the photos, I see that there is a small metal tag that will have the key-code stamped into it. New York Series D-Lock's have the code stample on a metal tag, instead of the keys.
Register your key code on-line @ https://www.kryptonitelock.com/Pages/KeyRegistration.aspx
Replacement is legit, we support all key replacement from the US, so if you loose a key or two, for $12 USD you can get (2) new cut keys to your code you registered. This can also be done on-line with a CC.
I will try to email you the lighted key insert and the main insert that would have come with the New York Fahgettaboudit Mini, so you can have the details and decide if the 1 year Free ATPO works for you.
If any ? come up contact our CS team @ kryptonite@irco.com

twofish have had something very similar for quite some time.
ammar- Yes, they have been selling their rubber craddle for sometime. What we tried to do was make a better mount for the handlebars. a few differences in the new H-Bar are - The mount is a secured fit with nut and bolt clamp to keep the mount stationary on the handlebars, as a hook-n-loop strap cannot be tightened enough to stop rotation on the bars. The H-Bar supports two points(crossbar & shackle), this stops the lock from swaying right to left when crankin on the pedals. and last you might need to buy 2 version of theirs(small & large), vs. the 2 in 1 H-Bar unit to fit a NYFU and a EV Mini. - Don

problem now solve (a bit too much of chain oil done the job ) thank anyway
Best thing I would recommend you do with your new acquisition is to do a bit of deep cleaning. Especially around the area where the shackle fits into the crossbar, & deadbolt area. Do a degrease with a WD-40 or citrus cleaner. Now as long as the chain oil is not like a philwood or oil based your good. See Reg. oil oozes and collects grit, no good in a lock. A “wax based” lube like Finish Line Teflon Dry is awesome stuff to use and really deflects moisture, grit and corrosion. Add a bit of a drop to those parts every 2-3 months to fill it up. Try and grab some of this- Don

"The new mini"
Hope that doesn't mean they'll be ditching the "old" one...
DFresh- No way would we ditch the Evolution Mini's (5,7,9), these continue. These 2 new series of chains < EVS4(10mm) & KLS2(9mm) >will have this new style of a Mini brought into a chain. 55cm lengths makes these act like a 3.5" x 7.5" shackle dim, so just a bit more than a Mini-7, but the flex it give around some objects instead of a rigid bar makes it work really well. - Don

Kryptonite have posted photos of some of their new products here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150317303219777.354848.183549694776&type=1
Not sure about the whole integrated lock thing, but the mount for the mini Fahg looks good.
Back from Eurobike. andytk-The New Chain were received very well and it fills the gap below the New York series for those not in need to the security level of a New York product. Having the Disc lock as a separate on the New York Chains has true advantages for those that use it for proper lock-ups, but some like the fact the these are all inclusive units. Preference and security level needed will be the judge here.
This new Transit H-Bar mount will surely work with those New York Mini Fahgettaboudit’s and other Ulocks- even Cable too. We think this should help on transports, it has a 2-point mounting support to keep it from swaying. Some better images soon if you'd like. -Don -
Thanks Don. To confirm, those are the dimensions inside the D? i.e., how much space there is?
Just checking because the general dimensions given for width and height (like on Kryptonite.com) are the same, and I'd assumed they were the overall, outside dimensions. Which would make the inside very Mini indeed!
Fabius- Sorry for the delay.
The measurments are "INSIDE" diameters and when I checked mine it shows:
Width = 82.23mm
Length(At tallest location) 153.19mmThe New York Fahgettaboudit Mini's dims vs. the Evolution Mini-5 dims are as follows:
NYFU Width = 1.20mm narrower vs. EVMini-5
NYFU Length = 12.71mm taller vs. EVMini-5So basically the new York Fahgettaboudit Mini has just a tweak more length really
Hope this helps - Don

Could someone with a Fahg Mini post the internal dimensions of the lock? i.e., the width and length inside the 'D'. I can't find them anywhere (and have found differing sizes for the outside dimensions) and want to check if it'll fit round my road bike rim, tyre and ugly-but-practical mudguard. Thanks!
Hope this helps
SPEC:
**New York Fahgettaboudit Mini **
Width = 3.25" (8.3cm),the 'D'
Length inside 6" (15.3 cm),the 'D'Shackle Dim (Steel bar only) = 18mm
Shackle Dim with Vinyl covering = 23.9mmDon

BR reviews on the other krypto locks seem to be pretty vague..
It seems strange why other NY locks would require two cuts when the mini is supposed to be rated higher in terms of security.
Also could depend on where you actually cut on the shackle which may mean that the shackle can be opened using one cut instead of two.
@Fixed4Life any way since your quick to defend kryptonite locks. Can you explain whether the deadbolt locking mechanism prevents the shackle rotating within the locking mechanism , when the shackle is cut.
ammar – I support Kryptonite because I work for Kryptonite that's all, no hiding, so sorry I had not listed that on this thread. Agreed that it seems strange regarding the # of cuts reported by BR on the mini, but I do think it is important to look at the whole picture when “we” talk about the extensive holding power provided by our double deadbolt locking mechanisms. In addition to # of cuts needed, the double deadbolt also helps with twist, pull and expansion attacks. Now keep in mind, no matter what the shape of the U/D-lock is – round, square or hexagonal, there will always be some movement of a shackle in a crossbar after a cut-Fact. Other factors to consider in addition to # of cuts include: cut location (as you mentioned), what the bike is locked to, and the size of the lock (mini vs. Std. vs. LS size U/D-lock). At the end of the day filling the space with the frame/crank/wheel is the most important factor to be thinking about for any lock model. Take the space away, always! Don(Kryptonite)

OMOSSIS. no worries on the function of the lock. That is the dustcover plate and tab. Seems the lock may have fallen from a high level on that specific area or somehow the screw(s) got over cranked. This can be replaced easiliy and if Evans cannot replace that dustcover with a spare, you can contact us directly @ kryptonite@irco.com and put Don-LFGSS-OMOSSIS in the subject line and we will follow-up by email with your part and we will ship you a replacement cover. Installation is with I beleive a 2mm hex. takes a minute. What you can do if you want now is to remove the cracked plate and then reinstall the both screws. The screw do not cause the lock to function any less. Once you get the new part, reinstall and snug screws, no need to overtighten as these should have loctite on the treads. let me know how it goes for ya- Don

Hey all...GA2G ask my thoughts on the comment that Wapiti posted that referenced BikeRadar's review of the New York Fahgettaboudit Mini. Sorry I could not get Wapiti's quote to work on my reply so I'll copy it into this follow-up.
*I have a question concerning the Fagh Mini: Does it need one or two cuts to defeat it?
Bikeradar writes: "Unlike the excellent Abus, in test two this one only required the **one cut ...".
vs.
Kryptonite: "Double *deadbolt locking for extensive holding power".
Any explanations?Although we can’t speak to this specific BR test as we were not there, we are still perplexed by this specific “test 2” result. Of the (4) New York Series U-Lock reviews that we checked out on BR, the NY 3000 (May 07), the New York Fahgettaboudit Mini (June 07), the NY Lock <3000> (Feb 09) and the NY Lock MC (Nov 10), the only Kryptonite U-Lock to allegedly require only one cut was the Fahgettaboudit Mini.?? The Fahgettaboudit Mini happens to have a bigger double deadbolt locking mechanism as the other NY series u-locks that required 2 cuts. In fact the Fahgettaboudit Mini has an 18mm shackle which provides even more steel than the NY Lock (16mm). Fortunately, our friends at BR did give the NY Fahgettaboudit Mini a 4.5 star rating and called it the “toughest lock we’ve ever put to the sword”. Thanks for the question - Don(Kryptonite)

Yeah I do have some pinhead skewers on my gf's bike, they are similar but I don't like them because they are overly complex without necessity, do not come in M9 and are not stainless steel. And the torque engagement is shite.
I wonder if my design would get in conflict with their patent(s).
I did not read but this was on goggle search
http://www.google.com/patents?id=jXsZAAAAEBAJ&zoom=4&pg=PA1#v=onepage&q&f=false -
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
here's a design for an individually coded (>100.000 combinations) M9 anti theft 3-pin nut/tool set for track wheels, especially the front wheel as it would allow to carry only one lock. Tool and nuts would be quite easy to be manufactured on a lathe, no CNC needed.
The diameter of the nut would be 26mm, quite much, but still less than the Pitlock nuts that only exist for M10 anyway. The benefit is the 37° conical outer shape to prevent it from vise grip attacks.
Please let me know if something like this (with individually coded nuts and tools) already exists(??), and what you think of the design.

Would this not be the same as a pinhead design?

I'm not sure if they have a patent
Correct... I used his drawing as my follow up comment, but should have added that these are I.D. Measurements
