LFGSS and Microcosm shutting down 16th March 2025 (the day before the Online Safety Act is enforced)
The £18m fines etc will almost certainly be levied at Twitter/X as a high profile head to put on a pike, we've already seen this with the EU Digital Services Act earlier this year.
The porn and gaming industries will also very much be in the line of fire as a priority rather than a bike forum, given their subject matter and safeguarding issues.
As @Psmith says I don't imagine there's going to be a huge lift in terms of compliance, and I'd probably be able to lend a small amount of time to help navigate whatever needs to be done from a compliance POV.

Japan has quite an ... interesting relationship with KFC in general.
There's an amazing urban legend in Japan that suggests the ghost of Colonel Sanders placed a curse on the Hanshin Tigers baseball team after fans threw a Colonel Sanders statue into a river in the 80s.

Someone eventually found it at the bottom of the river, prompting another strange moment
On March 8, 2024, KFC Japan held a burial ceremony for the statue

Super interesting! Boru from Herne Hill Velodrome was due to cycle across India as part of his RtW trip and I noticed he skipped out quite a big chunk of it for this reason.
I remember researching routes when I first saw the thread referenced above. Lots of them seem to be out and back, along the same road? Assuming due to road quality or some other reason.

@hippy Complicated and half remembered, but I think he was also going for some kind of record, also done in the car.

It's easy....ish. Met a few people who'd scratched TPR back in Girona this year, who'd had to get back from places like Jaca where there's no straightforward way of putting a bike on a train.
They'd been told there was no way they were getting on one bus, only for another driver to say if the bikes were wrapped there would be no problem. One guy had basically cling filmed and bin bagged his bike and was finally let on a Spanish bus.

Consider the cost of trying to make it known that you've opened a small restaurant without many covers on the wrong end of the Cally Road with a PR agency / social media ads etc here in 2024...
Then consider the earned media value and column inches they've generated on probably not much effort. I bet they're full for the next few months.

Nicely done! I think this particular event really benefits from taking it relatively easy.
It was great to luxuriate in the various cups of tea / flapjacks / cakes / plates of baked beans on the way round, smug in the knowledge that the £20 entry is about 100x the value of the nearest sportive.
If you want to finish audaxes faster, the quickest way to shave off elapsed time is probably to minimise stoppage first, then work on upping your average speed second (joining a club wouldn't hurt with that)

Second this. Lots of Leicestershire is nice but accessible (fast trains to London from Nuneaton (which is admittedly horrible) or Leicester in about an hour.
Look at Burbage, Earl Shilton, Hinckley, also Harborough as above.
