True dat.
To be clear, I'm not judging. Just saying what it looks like happened. It's a simple crossroads and the truck was exactly halfway round the corner at a 45 degree angle when it finally stopped.
But I didn't see the moment, just the aftermath, so it may not have been undertaking.
Whatever happened though, it is tragic.
Two lives changed forever today I think.

It looks like the classic HGV incident - cyclist making a left hand turn with the lorry turning left too, but I only saw the aftermath. The police just told me she's "very injured but alive". They have moved the truck in the past hour or so, and the road is not a pretty sight, covered in blood and debris. I don't know the facts so don't want to make any judgements, but it does look like an undertaking gone badly wrong. The roads are still very snarled up, East-bound lane closed on East Smithfield, Dock St closed going North. I didn't think after this morning's soaking that my ride home tonight could be more unpleasant, but it surely will be now. Quite tragic.

Gazelle! Pronounced "Gah-zell-uh", according my Dutch friend Almar.
I know a little about them from a conversation with him over beer. He told me about their ubiquity in Holland when he was a boy in the 70's and 80's. I also Googled them and read as much as I could find, mainly from the sites already posted by others on this thread.
Having owned one, I can say it is a fantastic ride, agile and quick, but I'm a weekend warrior and still getting to grips with her around Richmond Park, my standard Sunday blast.
This one (see attached jpg) was put together by RetroDiCorsa for me, a gentleman and an artist when it comes to fine steel.

My Mum's family are from the Windies, and my uncle lived in Trinidad until he died in 2007.
When he was over a few years ago, already aged 60+ with a head full of grey hair, I'd just got a Condor Pista fixed and when he saw it he smiled, jumped on, and rode it round the street like a natural. All bikes had been like that once upon a time during his childhood in Guyana and Jamaica.
Happy memories indeed!

@Scrapper - geometry and measurements can be found here http://www.condorcycles.com/pista.html, sorry I should have posted that before. I called Condor and they said the Pista's geometry had not changed from my 2005 model to today's model.
Hope that helps.

I bought this bike new from Condor in September 05, original receipt available (£1,012). Since then I've upgraded the headset, saddle, cranks, rear sprocket and chainring.
It has been well-maintained and used for dry miles only.
I'm selling because I've got too many bikes, and this doesn't get the love and riding it deserves. It really is a fantastic bike, with no glitches, in good, clean condition except for a couple small paint chips that I've tried to show on the photos.
If you want more photos, just let me know and I can take them.
I'd prefer not to split, but welcome offers on the whole or parts.

I have no idea what all that data means, but I have a 52cm seat tube, 53cm top tube Bob Jackson that you're welcome to sit on and try for size.
I'm a fairly standard 5'9'' and I probably should have got something slightly bigger, but I'd never admit it because I love her.
Let me know if you need, I'm in Covent Garden or Clapham.

Wow, there's some great stuff being posted on this thread.
My $0.02 worth - a friend of mine sent me this link a while back and I've been obsessed by it.

It's an awesome catalogue of old hip-hop - some of which is extremely rare.

Horatio,
Best advice - try them in advance if you can, then buy from the web or seond-hand where you will get good discounts. There seem to be a few people selling because they bought too small, have a look on Ebay.
SIDI fit SMALL, so go at least a size up and maybe get the "wide" fitting - they come in standard and wide. I bought a brand new pair second-hand from someone who had bought his usual size without trying in advance. I take an 8 (42) in everything, except Adidas and SIDI where I have to go one size up 9 (43).
SIDI Dominator are great shoes. I've only had them a month or two but they keep your feet warm and dry in most conditions. I haven't worn overshoes this year, but would have definitely worn them by now if I'd been in my old Shimano shoes which were so ventilated that they let all the elements in!
Good luck.

@dogsballs - lovely Pompino that one. Beautiful lines...
:)
-
@Dogsballs - it's on hold for you, I've replied to your pm.
Thanks everyone - for looking, for the advice and to Dogsballs for (hopefully) buying it!

All good advice, thank you.
@andyp - I may well resort to Ebay, good idea, but I still have hope I'll find a buyer here...
@RPM - this definitely isn't a hipster bike, but you'd struggle to find a more reliable London workhorse!
@ pajamas - I should keep it I know. I love it. But four bikes is too many. At least that's what I'm trying to tell myself.
Fingers crossed.

Hey all,
A quick question to the forum - even if you're not interested in this sale, do you think it's over-priced?
The reason I ask, is that I haven't had a tickle of buying interest yet and it would be good to hear what you think. Maybe it's not the price and just credit crunch...
I thought I was being quite reasonable with the price, and I did the research and other Pompinos have sold on this and other forums for similar or pro rata amounts, depending on condition.
Thanks for your help!
