What's the dimensions?

Are the arms sturdy enough for a toddler to leap from (safely (into the center of the sofa not off it))?

Bicycle obsessed 2 yr old now very interested in the pedal life after ~6 months of balance bike cruising.

Can't work out if 12 or 14 inch wheels are best, guess it depends on whether the kid can swing a leg over the frame.

Hopefully something with proper brakes and wheels as the kid likes to ride... a lot... all the time... obsession that has moved beyond "ah, cute! we all like bikes" into fundamental life crutch/dependency.

Have a look at a Joie Stages - it has a completely flat bottom so will sit happily on your flat base

A neighbour offered us a pre isofix one which I'd like to test out but they have yet to deliver the goods.

Also, sticking with a militant 1 car seat policy so will wait till the baby has outgrown the current one before moving on.

haha - unfortunately not, I had the baby car seat facing backwards at the end of the cargo section, with the watermelon (large) wedged between the bottom of the car seat and the steerer end of the cargo section - sort of perched there so worked as a kind of baby footrest as well.

Have now shuffled the car seat so that it is still facing backwards but shifted to the steerer end so that there is more space behind, otherwise you lose all the space under the car seat backrest.

It's great, almost entirely little roads, skips round the slower climbs and really follows hill ridges so you get nice long descents.

Bit sweaty and difficult in >27 degree heat, and if you're a pretty leisurely cyclist I would not describe it as "easy". Also there are a couple of sections of gravel/slightly muddy paths that you would struggle on with <=25mm tires but they don't last long and they help miss out hills or annoying roads.

Would give the route a 10 out of 10, also gpx/printable map/instructions on the website makes it easy to follow.

-- there is a nice spot half way up ditchling beacon to the right of the road next to a fence/gate/stile that you can collapse on for a lucozade/whiskey/lie-down. Worth making to it there rather than stopping in the road earlier later (if you're not going to do the whole thing in one)

After much testing of mates stuff and umming/aahing I got a Bulitt - (non-electric) - from SBC Cycles. Amazingly it turned up about a week after ordering - I had assumed that the was some kind of new-bike drought on from all I had heard.

It is f***in' great. Got the Alfine 8 gears, and space for baby in a too large car seat and a large watermelon without stacking one atop the other.

Think I'm gonna try and find a pre-isofix car seat to use in it though as it'll be smaller. Ratchet straps fasten reassuringly well.

Did this go? or is there a possibility is just been resting in a garden and or shed for a bit (year or two)?

@pez Thanks. Real info there. I'll have a look at the gazelles (initial thought is that they're a bit gross looking but that's nothing the sheen of utility can't brighten).

@Wouter maximum adaptability for the future is preferential. Have not discussed timeline for multiple kids but initial kid was likewise undiscussed so 2 kids space is preferable (or 1 kid and a large bag of crap (no offence kid 2))

I'm awaiting the arrival of a baby and want to gain knowledge/tips on getting a cargo bike, putting a car seat on the front, and cyclin' about town.

Cost is an issue but can probably make anything reasonable work with at least one saleable kidney.

50sish? Had previously been told it was a Claud Butler, but apparently the horizontal rather than vertical holes for the badge rules that out.
