Shout out to @Danimal who I met on the way to Amberley. It was great to have company on that last push to the pub after spending most of the day riding alone.
My bivvy bag accumulated some water through the small breathing hole; last night it rained on/off with some stormy periods; wet sleeping bag meant barely any sleep and a bit cold at times. So decided not to proceed to Eastbourne and got the train home.
Next time for a full SDW: lighter gear (had a super warm, but super heavy sleeping bag), tarp/tent, 28t chainring, etc. etc. and some company!

As I'm about to enter the south lift in Greenwich foot tunnel, I accidentally nudge the front light on the handlebars (which had kind-of-a-broken-but-still-working clip). The light propels forward, smashing on to the floor, breaking into pieces (happened before, not a biggie, put back together, go). Then the main body slides and disappears into the gap between the lift and tunnel floor. "Shit", I exclaim. Lift full of people watching.
The see-through plastic front laying on the floor, I enter the lift. Trying to break the silence: "Guess I won't be getting that back". "I guess you won't", a lady echoes my 'joke'. A dude picks up the plastic front and hands it to me. "Thanks mate". -

After some advice on rims.
Looking at ordering a custom build from CRC so choice is limited to what they can offer. Up to 2.5" tyres. Will be riding tarmac (in/out of city), off-road (days out, multiple day tours), really trying to nail an all-terrain fun and travel bike. No suspension.
Now the most limiting part - budget of around £300 give or take for the wheel set (excl. tyres). Hope Pro 2 Evo Disc hubs since need to be SRAM XD compatible. Plus the spokes. Leaves me with choice of rims priced around £30 each... Maybe 40.
Not including my shortlist here atm - but what could you suggest?
Any defaults people go for at this price and riding purposes? Or save up for something decent?

Hi,
I'm looking to build a 29er for touring and off-road use (think long weekends in the Lakes, Wales, etc.) and currently pinned down my frameset options to Surly Ogre or Genesis Longitude. Wander if anyone willing to sell a 19-20" sized one? I'm 6 ft tall. The offers I managed to find so far where for brand new frames which is out of my budget (although I'd probably get a new Longitude for £375, but 2015 version is out of stock. 2016 is £500...).
Other similar frameset suggestions are much welcomed! I'm new to all this, any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers
@Danimal ha just saw your post! response above:)
