Speaking of Crux(es? cruces?), has anyone replaced the headset bearings yet?

I am finding limited options for the lower headset bearing:

• Not cheap at £35~£40
  
• Cheap at £11
  
  

I went with the cheap last time, which didn't last long at all, but not sure I am morally prepared to pay £40 for a single bearing that will likely get gritty anyway.. So wondering if the hive mind has other ideas.

Vittoria also make Terreno Mix 40, 45 and 50 they roll well and have slightly more bite in the mud than Mezcals

Road jerseys work because they're more figure hugging. MTB jerseys are much looser, so your phone tends to rattle about and jump out of 'road style' pockets.

I'm sure I've seen people do bibs or MTB base layer with pockets, maybe that's more stable. Or just get a fanny pack.

Would also be harder to get anything in/out of a loose back pocket. This works on tight lycra, but even on some looser road gilets/jackets it starts getting trickier. Cargo bibs with side pockets are good - until you rip the pockets with the same stabby bastard things..

I'm getting chain slap even with the clutch on - it's not grippy enough.

Take apart the tension spring, clean and regrease, if that gets caked in crud there is not much the clutch alone would do. The tension spring give you the tension, the clutch just dampens the fast twitching motions.

Looking at that picture one would argue a narrower tyre would have deposited less mud on the FD

Just to say that unless buying rims to replace/build with existing components then there are very marginal savings to be found.

May is still borderline if you plan on going into high mountains (Alps, Dolomites or Pyrenees), depending on how the season goes there might still be snow (like this year).

Spain is a good shout, one idea could be to ride the Pyrenees from Girona to San Sebastian, then continue along the north coast and make it all the way to Porto and Lisbon.

Balkans is also a great option in my opinion.

Or just spend the whole time traversing dolomites and alps..

Powder coating tape is a good alternative, picked up a comment on here suggesting it and have been using it for the past 2y with great success. I actually prefer it to Tesa 4289, particularly if working in winter/cold when the Tesa can get a bit fragile..

Have you mounted these same tyres on the same rim before? Sounds like you might need more tape. Also, check the bead is clear from previous sealant residue
