We gave my girlfriends brother and partner Seven Wonders for christmas, which was really fun. Each game took about 30 minutes once we had learned the rules. Was a nice change from Catan which is our usual yuletide game of choice. I find players (myself included) often get jaded when it becomes clear they don't stand a chance of winning a game early on especially when playing an 1+ hour game with 5-6 players.
We also bought them Avocado Smash which is like the classic card game Snap, with some extra brain bending rules to make it harder - very tense stuff.
Played some interesting Swedish/Finnish card game which was like rummy but with 15 rounds (need to get a copy of the rules), and a variation of Yaniv which was also fun.

@hippy How big does he need? Can get glass demijohns up to 5L from Wilkos and brewing stores will often sell much larger glass vessels designed for wines and meads. Glass is nice and easy to clean but obviously want to wrap it or keep it somewhere dark so the wine isn't degraded.

I've made some vegan kimchi so I could give a jar to a vegan friend. Made with soy sauce and seaweed. I think next time I'd put more seaweed in. Recipe is otherwise pretty standard: Cabbage, mouli, carrots, spring onions, ginger and I like it really garlicy so plenty of that (3 whole bulbs per 2L jar!).
The thing the fish sauce adds besides umami, is an extra dimension to the bouquet. That said the vegan stuff turned out really well.

Had a similar experience with Asda jam donuts a few months back. Bought a bag of 6 and bit in into the first one only to discover there was no jam. I checked the others and they all had jam holes in them so I assumed it was just the one which hadn't been filled. Disappointed, I tried another only to discover there was again no jam. I figured I was really unlucky and it was impossible for all of them to be like that so I ate another, again no jam. By this point I had eaten half the pack so felt like I couldn't take them back. I was also ravenous for the sweet nectar i had been thrice denied so I had 2 more, again no jam. I was then too full and disgusted at myself to try the last one which I ended up in throwing in the bin with rage.
I do really like the Asda deep-fill mince pies!

Whilst on holiday in Portugal there was a tourist who was busily snapping pictures of themselves in different poses and various forms of pout. All very professional with an expensive looking camera on a tripod. After about 5 minutes, just when I thought their lips were about to fall off from all this content creation, they opened up their suitcase and pulled out a different jacket and a scarf and repeated the process. Of course it wasn't a one off. I saw the same scene with different individuals including costume changes at other picturesque spots in Lisbon, hogging the pavement with their tripods and portable wardrobes.
So, I welcome this Shoreditch popup as it will hopefully free up the streets for people who want to actually see stuff.

Noticed there is now a plastic free store at Tooting Market. Its called BYO and the website is: byo.london. Basically bring your own containers and fill them up with shampoo, rice, etc.
Yet to go there but will report back when I do...

Enjoy kombucha making! Looks like a narrow opening on your vessel, right? You may have a hard time fishing out your SCOBY after a few batches when it has grown in to a fat mass.
