Having been in the London for the last 3 years, I was horrified (and delighted) when my mates new girlfriend demonstrated a shoey for me last time I flew home (she's defo a keeper ;)). Also, potato cakes, dim sims and cheap chinese dumpling are the main food groups I still regularly crave over here.

There is http://gravelmap.com/ but there aren't that many routes in the database. The biggest routes on it near London are http://gravelmap.com/route/848-forest and the two which connect to it, making a total of 9 miles. Also I haven't cycled either of those so can't say what they are like but the fact that there isn't a Google StreetView suggests it probably is indeed gravel...

Cycled the Rhine a couple of years back from the Lindau on the German/Austrian border to Rotterdam. That was on a fixed gear surly 1x1 with chunky 29x2" tyres and a 38x(17/19) dingle speed jobby. I took a pannier and stayed mostly in hostels (they are epic along the Rhine old castles etc). and wild camping. There was a tough day between Schaffhaussen and Basel when things got a bit hilly in Switzerland, I think that is only because i lost the main path. But the toughest day was actually the last one to Rotterdam, it was 140km and when riding on top of dykes in Holland the wind can be brutal.
I think I was doing between 100 and 140km per day. It was summer so long and leisurely with pretzels, beer and Black Forest Gateau along the way.

Bit late now maybe but had a great time camping in Alfriston last summer. Posh town but down to earth campsite with fire pits and firewood for sale. Also good walking/cycling as its on the South Downs Way. People there were super friendly - our tent got blown away on the hike there (luckily cheap argos one), and on arrival to the campsite we had heaps offering to let us sleep in their cars. In the end a hen party happened to have some spare tents saving us from a night under the elements.
On a related note now that its summer, would anyone be keen on doing some "Sub 24 hour" bike-packing/camping trips? Preferably mostly gravel/off-road? Leaving London on the friday/saturday and returning the next day?
