it's all screwed into thick osb walls under the plaster with 100mm screws so it feels rock solid.
but i am going to cap off the window on the underside of the desk and probably build some shelves under there along the long wall for storage (think similar to a kallax but with 600mm openings to keep some of my larger board game boxes in) so i'll tie in a few uprights to that about 300mm in from the back.
regarding the table top, I ordered a pack of assorted figure 8 and z type tabletop fasteners (who knew these weren't really a thing outside of amazon/ebay in the uk) . will test both and go with the one i find easiest to install. think it's either making a 2mm inlay with a forstner bit for the figure 8 and chisel the corners off so it can pivot or cut a slot with a router slot cutter for the z type ones to slide in.

As soon as the weather clears up again i should be ready to cut my plywood sheeting for my desk. I was going to just screw it down through from the top and be done with it as i dont mind seeing the screws but i think it is probably worth using hidden fasteners as i cant really change my mind without replacing it then even if i dont need to worry about expansion with non-structural hardwood plywood as i understand it.
The supporting frame is all 38x68 cls studwork timber. Plywood is 18mm thickness
Should i just make the effort and use figure 8 fasteners and inlay then properly so i can easily replace the top when moneys less tight with something nicer or is there a better option i should consider.
This is the basic frame, i'm going to install some additional braces to support the top and give it a bit more rigidity but it feels pretty solid as is.

The rain clouds somehow got blown elsewhere everytime they were just about to get over head so managed to get some stuff done today but stressed myself the fuck out trying to rush everything so i didn't get caught out and everything would get soaked.
built the bulkhead for my office so i can put downlights over my desk to illuminate the stuff on the desk but not have to fuck about with the angle of the ceiling or running hidden cables.
will run trunking in at the top right corner for the lighting circuit and switch wires and run it inside the box so can either reach up through the downlight holes or just take the front panel off to get to the inside wiring. if i decide on led lighting for the ceiling i can put the transformer in there too.
overall i'm pretty pleased with it. was a good trial run for making the desk which is going to be a similar construction and rough gaps i will cover with some trim if it bothers me. have to remind myself sometimes it's still just a room out in the shed and not in the main house.
I did drop the bottom panel of plywood and gouged some holes in the wall which is fucking annoying so i'll have some touchups to do but once i wall mount the tv it wont be visible probably.

hung my first door and got it bang on first go. very pleased with myself. especially as i had to take 12cm off the height to get it to fit the small door frame.
designed and 3d printed a router jig myself for the hinges it's not mm perfect but they all fit and look nice and neat.
bought the irwin door lock jig to fit the handle as didn't want to fuck up the door on the last step and ruin all my hard work.
currently printing another jig to route out the strikeplate so it sits flush in the frame. then I can install the stops and i'll give the door and frame another coat or two of paint to finish.
first time using a router so happy to add another skill to my diy c.v.

fucking flies.
the second we open the back door the house is filled with the disgusting annoying buzzing cunts.
just seeing them turns my stomach. makes putting the dogs food out impossible too as he's a grazer so likes to eat when he's ready but costs us a fortune as the little cunts keep landing on it and we have to throw it out.
I swear to god there's a mountain of rotting viscera in one of the gardens somewhere in a 50m radius because I've never had such a problem with them as living here (we were in the row of houses that back onto our garden as well before this one and it was just as bad then).
those fly traps you fill with water and the powder seem to either work perfectly or not at all. might fill it with 200 of the dirty fuckers or it might not get more than 2 in a month.
makes me want to keep all the doors and windows closed all the time, fucking hate it.

lost my way a bit last few weeks as diy project interfered with my routine a lot and adhd was like if you're not doing the things properly we just won't do any of it.
took a week off running and lifting and had a couple of cheat meals here and there.
scales said 111.9kg but some of that is added muscle for sure as i can see changes in my arms and legs a lot. but time to refocus.
doing a hard reset today, going back to 1800kcal intake, strict meal daily meal plan and 3 days stronglifts and 3 days running 5k per week with sundays off.
going to spend 3-4 weeks focusing on bringing the weight down and then go back to eating maintenance to help encourage recomp again rather than just weight loss after that. if it works ok i'll keep yoyo'ing like that on/off every couple of months.

I would regularly use it to make a smaller batch using the cone filter basket when I was on my own. works great that way. particularly paired with the sage smart grinder pro as you just had to change the cup setting on the grinder to match how many cups of water you were putting in.
no hard sell but I'd go down to £130 posted on mine listed a couple pages back as could really use the money at the moment if you were interested.

Start a trend by just wearing one cuff link?
I remember back in the day when all my mates suddenly decided it was the done thing to wear cuffed shirts without cufflinks (not rolled up). which a) looked shit and b) was hugely impractical. yet all of them insisted it was the done thing and if you weren't doing it you were a relic in fashion terms.
after I pointed out that not one other person in the club was doing it over multiple weeks i was able to discern they'd all learned of this "must follow" trend from a single bloke at a wanky overpriced menswear shop in basildon town centre.
it lasted about another week before the whole thing fizzled out but the entire time i felt like i was in some weird emperors new clothes situation and i was the only person who hadn't lost their mind.

another hatbeard is skint sale.
Sage Precision Brewer. £140 posted
about 4 months of use on it. comes with original accessories and instructions minus the water hardness strip. the included water filter is due replacement so you'd need to order a new one for yourself. don't have any of the original packaging anymore but will send cocooned in bubblewrap with a sturdy box. also includes filters for both baskets (1-4 cup cone and 4-12 cup flat bottomed) and a third party plastic filter holder for the cone filters.
has been cleaned thoroughly with puly caff but i am incapable of not leaving smudges or getting water spots on stuff it seems so it's clean but will need a quick wipe down out of the box.

the cunt who previously owned this house. i would very much like to meet and the twat hime right in the face. He was was apparently incapable of doing diy without absolutely fucking at least 50% of the fixings to the point they are destroyed and literally impossible to remove.
have lost over 3 hours this week alone trying to navigate around the pricks handiwork on 2 simple odd jobs that should have been knocked out in less than 30 minutes combined.

missed your reply. it's 18mm. the screws that come with the fasteners i mention above are 14.4 incl the head i think and the thickness of the fastener is 2mm so should sink about 10mm in which is probably fine if i use a decent amount of them spaced out.
