Hi guys - I hope that this is alright to post this, but I thought that I would just point you at a charity auction that we are running to win a Fizik Arione National Champs Saddle and signed Kristian House print.
Details are here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170739701552?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
For those of you who don't know me, my wife and I run a charity in memory of our son who died in 2009 aged 14 months. We raise funds to support specific projects that may not otherwise receive funding that help kids. You can find full details on our website http://www.georgesfoundation.org.
I hope that you want to make a bid on the saddle - even if you don't, if you could retweet us https://twitter.com/#!/tgofoundation or "like" us on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/The-George-Oliver-Foundation/130990756917819 it all raises awareness of who we are and what we do.
You may also be interested in the challenge I'm doing this year - http://www.100hillsforgeorge.blogspot.com
The saddle/picture is as it was sent to me by Rapha/Condor - I have only got it out of the package to take the photo. I was going to put it on my JOGLE bike when I did it the year before last, but liked it so much that I never got round to it. It is a pretty smart accessory. I would keep it - but would like someone else to enjoy it.
Later on this week, we'll be auctioning a framed signed Mark Cavendish "George Oliver Foundation" cycling shirt.... -
Hi guys - after a brief period of inactivity - A few more climbs up on there now (including the UK's "hardest" climb in Bealach Na Ba in Scotland). - hope you enjoy www.100hillsforgeorge.blogspot.com

@Gussio - don't think its a job - think that he has to convince his family that watching him ride up hills is a good use of holiday!
-
@Brickman - to be honest, I found Wrynose harder - first hill of the day, I had a big wind right in my face, the road was wet and I got overtaken by a car that stopped in front of me for a chat! Hardknott was made easier by the car drivers who were incredible at giving the thumbs up, pulling right over and yelling encouragement!
@dulwichrider - yes he does, he follows us on twitter and I agree, a really, really nice bloke. I would also like to big up his publishers Francis Lincoln who made a pretty hefty donation to the charity. Top people really.I believe Simon is busy travelling the country looking for hills for a follow up book - you can contact him through twitter at @100climbs if you want to make suggestions. Cheers

Thanks guys - @Friday - I prefer roads with twists and turns - a straight road always seems somewhat more daunting! I do like Riber in Derbyshire, I also liked Rest and Be Thankful a lot and the cobbles of Shibden Wall were a unique challenge - on that basis, Consitution Hill was also fantastic as well - especially given the TOB footage from a couple of years ago.
@soperRiva - I think that some people have expressed surprise that a number of climbs haven't made it in - I think the author is currently putting together book 2!
-
Rosedale Chimney is supposed to be a nightmare too - as is the Bwlch Y Groes in Wales. Genuinely - Box Hill is about right at a 3/10, it isn't long enough or steep enough to justify anything else. The pros will do it without breaking sweat in the olympic road race, its going to blow the minds of all of us who struggle up it!

Cheers guys. The idea of the challenge is to do the climbs in the book - if you haven't seen it, it is this one: [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/100-Greatest-Cycling-Climbs-Cyclists/dp/0711231206"]100 Greatest Cycling Climbs: A Road Cyclist's Guide to Britain's Hills: Amazon.co.uk: Simon Warren: Books[/ame] - the only one IN London is Swain's Lane, but there are quite a few around London in it.
I believe the Author is doing a "follow up" - so maybe suggest to him some other hills - he tweets on twitter as @100climbs.
I am not the author, nor affiliated with the book in any other way than I'm trying to get my legs to get me up these climbs!

Hi guys, I thought I would just point your attention the way of my blog - I am trying to do all the climbs in Simon Warren's book 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs in a year for charity. The blogpage is www.100hillsforgeorge.blogspot.com
I am trying to keep a video/garmin/photo record of the hills that I have done - the videoing is a bit ropey and raw, but hopefully some of you may find it of interest?
I am crossing the hills off here as I do them: http://100hillsforgeorge.blogspot.com/2011/04/100-hills-for-george-hills.html I am a bit behind on the blog, the uploading of video and photos seems to take longer than the hill climbs!
Your thoughts and tips would be welcomed - cheers. M
