My phrasing wasn’t very clear. I mean the older models were manufactured from a heavyweight cordura, today they are labelled as made in China and the material feels a lot less sturdy. Perhaps they were made in china forever but I guess probably not.

Just came across this very awesome thread and surprised not to see berghaus munro mentioned by anyone. Unless maybe I missed it. Classic top loading alpine sack. I use it for trips of a few days to several months. I’ve removed the metal frame so I can easily roll it up. Mine’s been in heavy use for around 20 years and doesn’t care at all. You can buy them new from china (pictured) but the fabric on the old ones is much sturdier so look on eBay for used / dead stock in nice colours. No big logos or writing or weird pockets and mesh. I remove the bungee and ice axe clips from mine also.

Thanks I tried my Blackburn air stick with a schraeder-presta adapter and it was terrible so I’ll just get a mini schraeder pump of some sort, it’ll come in handy

To help with searching those are called cam straps not ratchet straps … quite easy to get hold of on eBay. I bought a few to fix things to a pizza rack.

Does anyone have any experience using a shotgun seat with a Bullitt? Looks like it could be a bit annoying to pedal.

I’ve had a reply from Laka - no need for receipts, photo is fine. You will just need some evidence that you ever owned a lock. This is made clear during sign up as well as being predictable and reasonable.

Would you mind saying what you’re changing to and why? Fellow Bullitt owner and curious about different options. GLWS too

It is made very very clear. They even have a list of locks and links to buy them during sign up. And you don’t even need to keep the receipt. For some reason this guy’s friend ignored the very basic and easy instruction to take a photo of his lock.

From memory you don’t need the receipt just a photo of the lock. Not even sure it has to be on the bike. I don’t think that’s a very onerous request and they do ask repeatedly during sign up for all these photos. I think your friend just messed up.

@coot @tomsvoboda thanks for explaining - that does make sense. I’ll try using the ones I inherited. I had thought that perhaps I might have less control with the manual one as the one hand cranking is not also able to stabilise / brace, but then I haven’t ever tried.

I’m curious about the market for hand drills - are they better than powered versions in any way? Or is it for collectors to look at? More fun? I have a few of them in the shed and never thought to use them for anything.
