Cheers for that, are they under any obligation to then go with them or are we basically a bit over a barrel?
I don't mind paying for things but I hate paying for incompetence and sub sub sub contractors to do a 1/3rd rate job
Also they want to do the works in February, I don't understand why they would want to repaint a place at that time of year as I was always told spring to autumn was best time to paint externally
-
Between myself and the leaseholder of the upstairs flat we have had an S20 for the repainting of the property. Normally it would be fine but Hyde or totally incompetent and the cost is up to £20,000. About 3/4s of that is for the scaffolding and charges.
As the only 2 leaseholders can we tell the freeholder to get stuffed and for us to undertake the work?
In the terms of the lease we are liable for maintenance and they are responsible for any external fix and repairs. EG Windows are their liability but the glass in them is ours.
The issues are at least 2 lots of the windows actually need replacing not painting over. What I want to avoid is the scaffolding going up, coming down and then going up again.
We got the place painted using some local tradesmen about 6 years ago, we got in touch and their quote was about half.
The freeholder charges 10% of total cost as management charge, the work has been estimated to take up to 5 weeks but should be done in less than 2. However as I see it neither the freeholder, contractor or scaffolding company has any inventive to do it quickly.

If anyone needs a South London builder recommendations then Wayne who runs South London Restoration would absolutely get my vote.
Lovely guy, stuck with the quote, answered the phone, called back if he missed you
He replaced the felt on a flat roof of my partner's flat, there were a few additional surprises but all sorted out really well.

That's great, currently it's on the back of a fixed hear Harry Quinn with 25mm tyres so it is super twitchy.
We've moved away from London so looking for something low maintenance but with gears to this seemed to tick.the box but haven't found out much about it.The marketing blurb said the frame is based on the cube hardtails so that and being belt driven ticked a lot of boxes. I'm not planning on downhilling on it but something that can handle country or canal paths with the odd hill.
Job for the NY is the find the model and size -
I'm looking into upgrading and getting a new bike, one to whack the 15m old on the back and be able to go for rides with the family. I've already got a Hamax and so was eyeing up a Cube Hyde so wanted to see if anyone has experience with one or reasons to go for it avoid. Open to suggestions for other options too, it'll be a cycle to work purchase

For those who have recently moved home, how's the Post office redirect working out for you?
So far mines been pretty shit.
No post at all for about 4 weeks, complained and then loads of post turned up in one delivery, no further post for a while and then lodger told us he has sent us some letters that arrived.

It was @Greenbank who high lighted the differences to me earlier. I'm just trying to get best bang for buck.
All the prices on my list I just posted into my earlier comment are without tops so need to add £75 except for the glass one (unless you buy or make your own)
Main things seem to be 2 or 3 stage as gives more height. Some have different weight capabilities but have no intention of having more than 20-30kg on the table ever. Speed they go up and down is something but low down in my list of GAF about. Some of the control units have a few different gimmicks too -
Don't suppose anyone has a discount code for flexispot desks? They've got a smallish glass topped one that I'm going to push the button on. It looks remarkably similar to the one Costco had but is sold out of too..USBs are in a different spot but having the drawer in it clinched it.
Also did a bit of an analysis as couldn't figure out the differences between the desks, not sure if useful

I couldn't find it in the thread but was there a way to turn on a Windows laptop just by plugging in the power? I thought someone on here had a way of getting their to turn on with having to open the lid. I've looked through the power settings but didn't see an option for that as a "wake up" or power on

Purple....Bricks.
You absolute fuck tards. You insist on having a set of keys, promise the safest method of storage that nothing could go wrong. We're due to exchange and after 3 emails you finally fess up that you can't find our keys. Nice of you to offer to get replacement keys cut, however as the keys are security coded it's not as simple as nipping to Timpsons.
Fucking useless pricks(Sorry, that was a rant but pissed off with the waste of space that is PB)

Yeah, I saw that and it kept flicking through. At the end of a day it is a desk that goes up and down but could not really see much difference.
I'm not sure what I'm looking at on the comparison in terms of good, bad or indifferent, why is 1 model £100 more expensive than another model for example and is 2 stage or 3 stage better?
@user90921 cheers , I'm not in any rush but good to know!

Flexispot desks have a sale on so I'm keen to get one.
However I can't really see the difference between them all, there is the E2, E4 and E6
Is there much of a muchness or anything I need to keep an eye out for?Their tops seem OK but I'm going to probably find an off cut work top that's just a bit thicker.
It's going to go in the spare bedroom, I've got just under 2m length and probably trying to get 50 or 60cm depth as it's not a huge room

This is my set up at the moment,
Amazon special desk (it used to be in the bedroom so wanted something that took up the smallest amount of space),
Dell company laptop, 2 X Dell monitors
Wireless sonkir mouse and keyboard
Wired headphones. Can't use the Mike on the laptop as going in via VDI means a slight lag and God awful feedback. All the above was purchased with certain £ thresholds set by work. The challenge I have with the desk is the top of my legs scrape the underneath the drawers so I need to lift it by about an inch.
I'm in the process of doing up the spare room so keen to get a standing desk and either the one from Costco or flexispot once the white frames come back in stock.
I'm in the living room so the music is courtesy of Absolute Classic Rock via Sonos Beam
I finally got round to ordering one of the flexispot standing desks today. Annoyingly the glass one I liked is totally out of stock but not a huge change going for the EQ4. If anyone wants a referral code then mine is here....
