We tend to have quite a few squash that go this way. Normally assume it is due to them not being pollinated particularly well, and the plant drops it to favour the next one along on the vine.
Have you had any fruit develop past this stage?
My partner is a fan of pollinating squash by hand. Find a male flower that has opened recently and has plenty of pollen on it, snap it off the plant, strip the outside off to expose the anthers, then wipe it all over the centre of the female flower (with the fruit behind it).

I find this method a bit explicit and leave it to the bees.

We bought a photo storage box that has lots of smaller boxes for 6"X4"s inside. Seed packets for in them pretty perfectly. Meant we could organise everything alphabetically and avoid having to tip out the big bag of them that they were in before to try and find one packet. That goes in the cupboard under the stairs.

You might want to give them a call first and check what they actually have in stock if you're looking to get it soon. I ordered an E5 a few weeks ago that showed in stock, and it's only after a couple of painful phone calls to their customer services line that I got told they're expecting stock on the 15th December.

Does not come with a stand, so you'll need a Vesa mount for it.
Can't see any dead pixels and have not had any issues with it since buying it new.
Comes with power, dvi,VGA, and display port cables.Collection from East Dulwich, or if you want to organise and pay for a courier you're welcome to as I have the box and some packaging material that my new monitor came in.
£40
How do the plants look from this company? Was thinking of ordering some oriental greens from then to go in the greenhouse over winter
