If they do insist you wear tights (I've been wearing one particularly fetching "NHS beige" knee length stocking for a year now), a few suggestions:
Make sure you get them to write you a prescription for a LOT of them - they're not designed for people that move more than from the living room to the kitchen and get holes really quickly. Annoyingly you have to pay full prescription for each pair as well
When putting on after a shower, be prepared to spend 25 minutes hopping/swearing while you try to get them on any further than your ankle
It helps to already be in a relationship. I can imagine what a mood killer it might be to include this in the first night's passionate undress

@hippy Just saw this, got extensive proximal DVT in my leg after breaking my heel last year - right up from my ankle to my groin (was misdiagnosed three times in two months). Was pretty grim for the first few months, but back cycling as usual now without any noticeable effects.
Ask your doctors about Rivraoxaban - it's a relatively new treatment I got from haematology at King's. Doesn't need you to manage your levels or watch what you eat, although it's less easy to reverse in case of an accident.
Hope it heals up soon.

After our chat on saturday, you were thinking it could be scale, when was it last descaled? If not for a long time might be worth running pickling vinegar to descale the boiler if there is any scale as this will have a go at descaling it.
Looking here:
http://www.partsguru.com/user/Parts%20dagram%20ER0182_Rev01.pdfDon't think the fusibble link is gone as then the steam bit wouldn't work.
Check number 17 (coffee boiler temp sensor) is operating. You will need a cuircuit tester ;) Think it is open circuit (high resistance) till the water is up to temperature then it operates (low resistance allows current to flow)
May be look at 21 to 25, its a philips screwdriver and allen key to check that if there is a blockage of some scale in the output valve/tube.
The rebuild kit of a couple of o rings and fibre washers, so you can take it all apart and see if there are any blockages. The kit is the same as the boiler in the baby gaggia so we can chop and change to see what parts are faulty.
I had this exact problem a few weeks ago. I managed to resolve by using an allen key to remove the OPV and 3-way valve:

I then used a spanner and mole-grips to open them up. I then just put them (minus the solenoid electronics) into some diluted descaler overnight. Next morning gave them a good rinse and reattached. Started working again straightaway, although ran a few cups of water through to make sure I'd flushed out the descaler.

FWIW I've just made a claim with Halifax. They've been much better than expected (despite the garage only being covered for 2k) - by allowing me to add my excess on to the value of my cover and passing on the discount they have with their bike supplier (25%), essentially giving me £2.9k cover.
Admittedly not much use if you've anything unique/vintage (I'm resigned to never seeing my CB frame again), but I have two replacement bikes arriving tomorrow, both of which are the latest models of those stolen.
Also, no idea how my premium will change now.

Morning DIYers. I'm looking at installing some security lighting (and a load of other security measures) after my garage was broken into last week. We've an existing bulkhead style light at about 5' off the ground, I'd like to extend the cabling to fix a security light about 9' up.
To do this I'm thinking about extending the cables with armoured outdoor cable within some galvanised steel conduit - I'm keen to avoid anyone being able to easily cut through the cables.
Just wanted to know if anyone has other ideas?
The reason I'm not looking to add a new cable flush to the new lights, is that the existing bulkhead cable runs through a neighbour's flat which I don't have access to.

Had my garage broken into in Blackheath last night. Cut through two padlocks, smashed the alarm then cut through the wall anchor. Two bikes were locked together with a Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Mini and a Magnum Plus chain, so they decided the anchor was the weakest point.
The two locked bikes were a Cube AMS 125 2009 like this:
http://www.2009.cuberussia.ru/f/products_new/ams_125_p1_8289.jpeg
But with Reba forks, a Hope headset and Maxxis tyres.
The other was a Felt F75 like this:
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l607/cyclist159/Photo0110.jpg
But with yellow Look Keo pedals and Michelin Pro 4 tyres.
I'm most upset about losing my recently restored 1956 Claude Butler track frame:

Which was unfortunately not locked.
They obviously knew what they were doing and came prepared. Arseholes.
If anyone comes across any of these, especially the Claude, please let me know.

Slightly off topic, but how do people deal with dupes? After years of having music saved on all sorts of different hard-disks, USB sticks and devices, I finally put it all onto a NAS a couple of years ago and now have hundereds/thousands of duplicated albums and tracks.
Identifying the dupes themselves is pretty straightforward in sotmhing like iTunes, but I still need to manually go through and delete each dupe. Does anyone know a automated/part-automated way of doing this?
It's been suggested I used something like Musicbrains Picard to tidy up all the metadata then use a plugin in Song Bird, but I've got over 500gb of music and on my puny desktop machine it will take months to run...

I've got the Jawbone Jambox. The quality is ok, but nowhere near as loud as I expected it to be. Also, and I'm not sure if this is a problem with all Bluetooth speakers, but it suffers from background interference at a low volumes.
I've tried a few others since and the CA audio minx has been one of the best.

Hit one of the many pot-holes on the OKR on my way home last night and put a reasonably hefty dent in the rim of my front wheel.
My first question is - do you think it's repairable? I'm loathed to buy an entirely new wheel because Southwark council can't be arsed to look after the roads...
If so, do you think I need to take it to an LBS? I stumbled across the link below and to doesn't seem too difficult to attempt, even with my limited mechanical knowledge:

To the fucking "I'm a rebel" dirt bike with road tyres, urban camoflage, bomber jacket, straight-though exhaust, long key-chain, skull ring wearing, DM booted motorcycling shitbag (who thinks your Dennis Hopper, but who's 40, lives at your Mum's - but talks to her like shit) that just knocked over three cyclists in the ASL box and rode off:
I'M SORRY. I REALLY AM. IT WAS ALL OUR FAULT.
SORRY. SORRY. SORRY.

I don't think the guy we got it off was the guy who stole it - only a gut feeling, but someone with the nerve to smash their way into a garden shed through a locked gate would have kicked up more of a fuss. He was also quite comfortable meeting us under CCTV.
Didn't give him any money, by the time we showed him the frame number matched the one we'd written down in advance he really didn't have a leg to stand on. We just wheeled the bike back into the station and jumped on the train home.

@chrisbmx @chalfie I've got a Yamaha AS500 with a Cambridge DACMagic100, Rega RP1 and an old pair of KEF speakers (not sure what model). Really pleased for the money - but things can sound a little neutral through the DAC.
