Luckily slow speed in a downhill switchback. Only grazed knees. I should ride with knee pads rly, it would have been inconsequential, but that's not the XC vibe :/

I got myself a picopresso out of curiosity and it's faff and I might be too dumb to get proper coffee out of it but it's shit in my opinion.

I also have a pipamokka which I love, it is a solid product for camping, travels etc and also making cups of cold brew with some ice cubes.

I like my brikka ... Not espresso but closer to it than a straight up Mokka pot

I used to use an EVA pod style box for most of my travels, but most recently I used a B&W soft bag and just lined the sides and bottom with cardboard, in combination with two padded wheel bags on the inside and the drailleur removed from the hanger and wrapped in bubble wrap.

This proved much more practical. Lighter for starters, which enabled me to carry it with the shoulder strap for short stints if needed.

Once I was at my destination I folded up the cardboard sides to a third of their size (I could have just ditched them as well, but decided to keep them for the return leg), and was able to get the box into the rental car much much easier by removing the wheel bags and placing them elsewhere.

Of course the Soma is what I call agricultural equipment, and I probably wouldn't do that with a CRUX or similar, but I think this will be my travel approach from now on.

Definitely get a Commodore. ;)

That used to be a nice stopover location ... not so sure the city has quite the same vibe now.

That said, Doha or Dubai is the shortest route to OZ. Massively so. So if you're planning direct, that;s the way to do it. I did go via Singapore before but that meant an 8 hour layover in the airport plus an increase of in-air flight duration by 4 hours or so

Not quite, I was too late for that. We were three of us, two shorties and myself ... On the Qatar jets the third middle row in each section of economy has a seat with more leg room, because the rows widen from 3 to 4 seats.

Just did Europe and back from Adelaide via Doha a few weeks back. 8hrs, 3hrs airport, another 13hrs or vice versa ... brutal
