I'd recommend the following to give you feels for rides in each compass direction:
1) Take the Bristol to Bath bike path out through the two tunnels then loop back through Radstock > Chew Valley
2) North out into the relative flat lanes around Yate and Wootton under Edge, back down the Severn through Hill / Rockhampton
3) Mendip loop going up Burrington Coomb and Cheddar Gorge
4) Over the bridge into Wales for some Forest of Dean gravelHappy to share detailed routes if any of that is of interest.

Hope the new move down under goes really well mate.
I have fond memories of riding the Grand Slam in a Day ride with you (in 2009?), in particular the stretch racing from Souths to Norths: getting pulled over by the cops in Farringdon, you smooth-talking us both out of it, and then back to racing, and still beating the rest of the group up to the Flask on Highgate Hill. Bright times.
Safe travels x

@cjr that's a good idea with the food pouch. I already have a pair of restrap ones under the aero pads, but am thinking of a solution for the bulky items you tend to pick up mid-ride at petrol stations etc. In my mind its more horizontally mounted with an opening nearest the rider.
@Kurai yeah I think it may require sewing... i dont have the equipment or skills but have a friend who could help if i gave a detailed blueprint. Here's the best pic I have immediately to hand of the space available between the bars.

Actually that's incredibly helpful - I've tried plenty of search terms, but not "elastic netting", and that's thrown up some useful links. Will try and bodge something out of this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07CSPDTR6/
