@Lolo cheers

Like doing things like tinkering with bikes and sharpening knives. Naturally came across a few knife makers on instagram, one of which has a small workshop in the old cutlery works in Sheffield. Went to see him today, looked at a few samples he had floating around in the workshop and ordered 2, with a few adjustments to suit me, for bargain price.

@Heldring any more info/pictures on this bike about please?

Charge gratar 5 medium, as new. Still expensive but half the RRP and taking offers https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Charge-Greater-5-size-medium/273684077861?hash=item3fb8d79d25:g:ZrQAAOSwSVNcVweG:rk:7:pf:0

Avoid the master cobbler in Islington at all costs whatever you do.
My watch strap on a cheapish daily watch broke shortly before an interview I had in London, and I’d come down the night before to stay with my sister. Morning of the interview, I went to ‘The Master Cobbler’ in Islington to get it fixed for convenience. £15.95 new for the strap, fitted, fine. I walked out shop 10m, checked the time, the strap disconnected, and it fell off, smashing the watch face. I went back in, and after an unnecessarily long discussion, they agreed to fix the screen FOC. Would take a few days - so my sister would have to go and pick it up as I went back to Sheffield.Firstly, they didn’t ring to say it was ready, instead I had to ring 2 weeks later. That’s excusable but the next bit is awful. My sister, who knew the entire story, went to pick it up today, with me having sent her the receipt. The guy who served me worked hard to get her to pay £45 to pick it up, she knew something was up but paid it because I couldn’t answer my phone. Just spoke to her now and she explained all of the above, and without even needing to get me on the phone, they immediately ‘realised their mistake’ and refunded her. Absolute c**ts.

@pdlouche would you spend £12 posting a £40 watch to a watch shop? I see your point though, could be a watch of any value
-
I am planning to post a watch soon in a glasses case then in another box, special delivery. Has huge sentimental value to me, would hate to see it not arrive. Isn't the service tracked so RM could identify where it went missing? If a parcel is special delivery with a watch shop's address on it, that advertises to whoever could interfere that there's a roughly £1-2.5k watch in there surely?
-
@Stonehedge I really like that and sub £200 with a nice pouch is top. Looks great - cheers
-
@Stonehedge have you had yours delivered and how/when did you hear about Alkin? Looks pretty impressive on their kickstarter page. I would have pledged for one but I think funding is closed now as they have hit their target.
