Love how much shit @Stonehedge is getting for daring to suggest that if people make huge gains on an asset, they should be taxed on it. Also puts into scale a bit the problem, given that I suspect most of they people on a Tory-downfall thread are not, well... Tories, and how fucked up Brits attitudes are towards housing (i.e. not first and foremost a place to live).
What about my parents downsizing to release a large house to the market for someone that needs it and also to have a reasonable retirement where one party was a full time mother for 30 years and essentially only has a state pension?
What on earth were they planning on doing had they not had their house increase in value 400% over the last 30 years?
Re. the risk argument: Equal (or greater in recent years) risk in the stock market, but you pay capital gains?

Why do you feel the need for the extra space?
Do you park on a resi street? Can you guarantee that you'll not be blocking light into people's front room or gardens?
Do you exclusively stay in campsites? If not have you considered that a LWB van takes the parking space of three cars which carry 5x more people? And that local roads in popular locations generally just aren't designed for massive vans
Without wanting to be too blunt, I really hate the way influencers have persuaded everyone they need big fuck off vans now. Especially in the outdoors community which I would like to think is conscious of their consumption and outdoor access in general.
A van to me should be closer to camping than driving a studio flat to the lake district for the weekend, and the more people that do the latter are the ones who risk spoiling access in general. Big van owners IME are often more akin to 'love the outdoors' youtubers who spend the weekends walking one mile and then flying a fucking drone over the fells.
Apols to anyone offended! (Except the drone folk)

I don't think that he's claiming that he has designed a solution or fully understood the design (he openly says that he doesn't trust the 20mm deflection out of his FEA), but is simply trying to highlight (a) how fucking simple this is (b) how shit a job Canyon have done to have this problem at all.
Designing for worst case ever scenario is basic practice within engineering and then boshing a x2 factor of safety on top of this. Bearing in mind that a large number of £10k bikes get sold to overweight bankers, I don't think that's bad practice.

Two cheap wheels available, £10 each but offers accepted (no joke). Tyres and tubes included but very old.
Unbranded wheel w/ flip flop hub. Was rattle canned black a few years ago, but looking very tatty now. Seems true however and I've never had an issue with it. Comes with 18t fixed cog
Miche Excite front wheel. Again, no problems. Came stock on entry level Willier a while back.
Collection from NW3.

agreed, and I've never been on Mumsnet in my life, but understand that it is an incredibly popular forum with.... Women... so unless I've completely missed something, to blanket-include that in the list of hate propagators seems extreme too.
