All yours. Thank you!
It would be great to have you @Colin_the_Bald you are an expert now.
-
• #134
yeah i can too...
-
• #136
Nothing except I'd need to change bars, which would involve bar tape removal.

For this event, any previous race experience necessary?
I'm currently at 3rd stage accreditation at Lee Velopark so I've done a couple of laps atleast...
-
• #138
The induction session at Herne Hill is the only requirement needed really. It takes place every saturday between 1 and 2, so you can do it the hour before we start, if you haven't already.
-
• #139
Ideal, I'm going to do the induction on the day and then see what events I can get into. SUPER NOVICE catagory will suit rather nicely I think ;)

What other regs should i be aware of other than;
- Helmet & Gloves
- Brakeless
- 165mm Cranks
- Wrapped Drop Bars
- Fixed gear with single cog on rear hub
- No extra fittings or fixtures
- Foot retention (SPD-SL)
What gearing is recommended?
- Helmet & Gloves

Treat it the same as you would Lee Valley. Just the track is twice as long and a bit windier...
So yes to all those. Gearing is a personal choice, whatever you feel comfortable on. Probably best not to test your limits with a massive gear though if you haven't got any racing experience.
-
• #142
Bolt on front hub, not qr. End plugs in bars. In the region of 48:15 to 50:15 should be fine, or equivalent.
-
• #143
You don't necessarily need to have 165mm cranks - provided you have a track frame with a reasonably high bb. The banking at HHV is quite shallow - i had 172.5 cranks on for most of last season.
Gear choice is quite a personal thing - and depends on how strong you are. If you're new to track and racing then a gear of 86 ish would be a good starting point (48x15).

• #144
49x15 is also a nice gear. 50x15 would probably be a bit big for a starter.

In other news, I can only apologise that I will definitely be there to 'help'. Mrs B will be along too and could possibly be trusted with small menial tasks....
-
• #147
@Colin_the_Bald @dan I can put together a 48x15. I'll start with that and see how the day goes...that's the biggest gear I can put together atm.
-
• #148
Shit I didn't think of that. Maybe I need a new name for the day.
