  • OK, we're going to start off the 2023 night rides with the traditional alternative season opener (nobody fancied Surrey Hills).

It's flat. It's summertime. Let's do some miles and see if any of the pubs will let us in. Did I mention the 10 mile sprint finish?

For those of you new to the Thursday night rides, you're very welcome and this is an ideal introduction (guaranteed 25 degrees and tailwind all the way). Please see the ride protocol here, especially if you're new to group riding and want to know what this is all about: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/253505/

If you want to get the train, the 1911 from Liverpool St arrives Roydon at 1944.

    Trains back are:

2230 arrives Liverpool St 2315 (change at Tottenham Hale)
    2314 arrives Liverpool St 2348
    2344 arrives Liverpool St 0018

Riding back, it's 22 miles to Liverpool St.

  • I will make a TNRC this year. Not this one, but one in the future!

  • I've been showing my friend how good it is to ride round London fixed. So pretty sure he's going to love this!

  • Having my name prefixed by the at symbol means that I get replied to every time the list is posted.

I'm feeling my inner Will Melling rising.

(So tempted to @ him in that sentence ...)

  • Oops, sorry, my fault. Didn't see the knock on effect. I'll remedy that for you. Unfortunately I'm doing that by bedwetting. Got tickets to a gig, bought them ages ago and completely forgot about it until now.

  • Brrrr. I must be getting soft in my old age. That was a bit on the chilly side.
Of course I would have to get a puncture in the ride back, probably from hitting a massive pothole. Had to fix it in a field where it was a balmy 4 degrees.
Still it was a great evening, lovely clear skies and nice to see some new faces. Good efforts all round

  • Some efforts bigger than others!
Sorry, forgot you were riding back Russell, thought the train was about to come, so will say goodbye next time.

Potter's Bar is a good one for a first timer, a few testing but reasonably short climbs and some rolling country lanes.
