Like how chopped up and sloppy is Chiltern Ridgeway in winter? Epping looks pretty soggy but there must be places that aren't practically under water?

Swinley. It's mostly pebbles and sand so drains pretty quickly.

Anywhere with a sand based soil ( like Swinley ) rather than a dense clay based soil that takes forever to drain ( like Epping )

It might wear out faster but if it's not hitting the bike so much it's not that bad. I don't care so much if I wear stuff out from normal use, but I don't want to have to spend 2x the ride time hosing stuff off, cleaning clothes, etc.

My mate lives over there so I've actually ridden there once but it's a schlep across London's Fucky London just to cover myself in slop (I know, some people are into that, I'm not so much)
