MAY I introduce you to some original hipsters taking a break at Spitalfields.
Being that trendy in 1975 was very tiring as you can see....
You will get to see their modern day counterparts if you are unlucky enough on the day...

Greetings and love folks,
Today we have a history lesson for you...
The venue as you will know have moved from the Gipsy Hill Tavern to Brixton JAMM....
Well this happening venue used to be called ' Ye Olde White Horse' back in the day.... It first appeared on a map in 1790 ( when some of my jokes were almost new...) and has been a fixture since then giving sustenance to weary travellers...
This long tradition will be continued on Sunday 08.04.18 when the Cobblemonster is in town.
If the link works there is a nice article here about the history and some lovely pics
Take it easy on the roads this week people...
Peace and love,
Tim

Interesting historical typographical note:
Ye Olde, would have been pronounced "The Olde".
The "Y" character in "Ye" is actually a representation of the no longer used "Thorne" glyph that was pronounced "Th".

Greetings Mashton,
That is indeed a very interesting typographical note.....
I give Ye and Thee thanks for that,

In a slight tweak we'l be starting from Brixton cycles right across the road from ye old JAMM before crossing the road (looking both ways!) to JAMM who by then will have cleared the decks from the night before. If you've registered you'll get or have got an email telling you about this. I promise this is the last of the changes tomfoolery.

My CanonbieFriendly 46t chainring just arrived. I'm sure that shedding two teeth will make all the difference.

Where did this photo come from? Can't believe this was the year after I was born: looks like a different world. Also in for the Cobblemonster. The day before my final exams of medical school so probably not wise but a good way to round off six years of study. Anyone knocks me off I'll fucking kill them!

Greetings AndyMedic,
Serious bit - I applaud any one studying for medical exams. I spent a lot of time in hospital over Christmas and New Year so I know the wonderful work that is done and the pressure the system is under...So good luck with the revision and exams and come and say hello on the day. I might even buy you a pre-final exam steadying the nerves type drink...
Unserious bit - It depends on which photo you are referring to. If it is the Brushfield may contain nuts photo that would make you circa 48, if it is the Spitalfields photo that would make you circa 43, but if it is the Old White Horse photo from 1905 then it is a miracle you are alive let alone studying for medical exams.
In other news and to answer the question... I spotted the East End photos on the interweb - details here

Peace and love to each and every one,

I’ll be riding about 64”, should be fine. Everything else was fine last year but I did have a lie down briefly up the top of Canonbie, perhaps the air was so thin.

In. Excited. Not done this ride since 2013 or been up Eliot Bank since, but the top was a mud coated crater field then, and I bet its not been resurfaced since. How grim is it up there now? Fat bike/MTB needed?....don't make us get off and walk run, we might get mistaken for CX'ers ;)

Far be it from me to recommend you ride on the footpath, since that’s an offence, but ...

Cheers Skully, I don't even remember there being one at the top, but just checked on google maps and you're right, that looks the better option....to dismount and proceed in a legal fashion obvs. Looks like I might not have to wear brown kit after all, which is a good job as I have'nt got any :)
Greetings folks,
This ride is not just about the highs.... there are some lows also...
Please allow me to talk 'cobbles'.... aaarghhhhh...
Here we see some genuine pavé around Brushfield Street in 1970 captured in all it's glory
Fans of automobiles of yesteryear will enjoy the Triumph Herald on the right
Health warning - the building on the corner may contain nuts.
Peace and love,
Tim
