  • £4.

    Fries for £3.50

But why would you have chips when you could have a smoked fish/ german sausage platter to share?

  • Black pudding scotch egg? Desecration!
Mais oui! to their more amicable team and midnight close

  • £5 scotch egg. It's grim up north London.

  • Now, Mini Chicken Kievs, would they be under starters or main courses?

  • Mustard in gravy? Proper disgrace!

  • Sweet chilli dip with squid, where's the garlic mayo?

  • Did I miss something, leaving early?

  • When Flask started clearing the chairs away we decamped to the Wrestlers who made us very very welcome - really friendly staff and punters - lovely walled garden which we took the bikes into - nice range of ale.

  • The Wrestlers is owned by the same people as The Jolly Butchers and The Brownswood (the German sausage connection), two very decent boozers.

Seems a shame to leave The Flask but frankly they've been treating us more and more like an inconvenience recently.

  • I would advise against leaving the Flask so quickly. Better to try out the Wrestlers a couple more times before making a decision. The forum has often changed pubs with the promise of a better tomorrow only to find that things weren't quite as ideal as first thought.

Management at the Flask is likely to change again, and there is the fact to consider that Norths has never changed pubs (except when the Flask was unavailable, I think).

  • I think the Flask has had a huge boost this year from poor George Michael's death. It has papered over the cracks in the management all Winter and half the Spring - Fullers probably think they've got a star team in place looking at the year on year numbers - might take a while for them to realise the true picture.
Hopefully they will get some better management soon.

  • You mean a summer holiday at the Wrestlers.

  • Like when we did Easts on Tour.

  • Everyone will still be expected to approach via Swain's Lane.

  • ...on a bike - not Addi Lee.

  • trial separation

My thought was really to try them out every Tuesday after Flask hours, you get to appreciate the character of a pub quite well that way, I think.

  • Yes - good call Oliver.

It's hard to imagine being anywhere other than Table 73 on a warm Summer's Tuesday evening.
