Potentially dumb question: what does 'by way of Beachy Head' mean?
-
• #28
There's no such thing a a dumb question, at least until @Ramsaye arrives.
It's from this...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rolling_English_Road
Seems appropriate for us and this ride in particular.

We definitely have the worst route choice for the weather though - would you consider a late switch to, say, Potters Bar (which seems much more likely to dodge the rain post 7pm)?
-
• #30
Can't leave the decision too late. I'd be happy with Potters Bar, what do others think?
-
• #31
Potters bar is fine by me, but I need to liaise with the friends supposed to come along so can't delay the decision too much :)
-
• #32
Whatever is decided, could train times be posted up so that we can attend at least the huddle at the train station, if not the ride!!
-
• #33
Someone make a decision - if it's Ingatestone I need to get going around half 4
-
• #34
I do have a 3rd option for a route...
-
• #35
If we agree to PB then it's the 19.18 from Kings X.
-
• #36
OK, to save doubt, I'll call it...
POTTERS BAR
POTTERS BAR
POTTERS BAR
POTTERS BAR -

Good work that man (it's already pissing down here..)

Cheers, that poem is brilliant, thanks. Enjoy the ride!
-
• #39
Let's go for Potters bar then. Rain what may!
-
• #41
I did. Looks like it's about to ease off and then resume at about the time I'll be leaving the office. Potters Bar is fine though, I reckon.

A bit of rain is okay but what about the road conditions? (thinking of hidden potholes etc.) Also we might experience some train delays.
-
• #43
The area drains quite well so road conditions should be acceptable. Trains could be a problem, we'll just have to see how that pans out.
-
• #44
At the station. No delays.
-
• #45
Got a puncture on the way home and won't make it in time. Sorry guys, have a good one. Looks like the rain will clear

Hey guys, great ride...thanks a lot!

Thank you all for an excellent ride in excellent company.
May I also take this opportunity to apologize for the rank stupidity of my fellow cuntrymen.

We should never have gone to Wetherspoons. Farage had conceded defeat when we left - by the time I put the TV on at home he was claiming victory!
Indeed it's tough call - I can't decide whether we are going to get drenched or flukily miss the worst of it.
