  • Cool. I'm looking forward to this. Probably will be taking my rigid 26" instead of my Stanton. Reckon that will make things easier to last the whole day...

  • Good choice. You'd definitely feel a bit over-biked on the Stanton.

    last the whole day...

If we're out the whole day, it'll be because I keep going back to the tea hut for more cake :-)

Although, I would really like to get a decent amount of riding time into this one and fit as much singletrack in as I can.

We can haz 'DH run' session pls

  • What could go wrong

  • We can haz 'DH run' session pls

Well, you certainly can, as you'll be living it up at Bike Park Wales that weekend.

  • Oh. Yeah. Trudat.

    Yay.

    Darnit.

  • Some of the trails are hard to spot, believe it or not, due to the leaves on em.....the stache doesn't have an issue, but mere 2.4's might not cut it....!

Jokes, but it made the ride more interesting for me the other day!

I might go down there again tomorrow.......

That can make it bloody hard work. Night-riding when you can't see the trails is even more ridiculous :-)

  • Especially when you don't like your lights too bright.....I've got a set of Ay-Ups, and although they are really good, my buddy has an exposure six pack (or similar), that turns night to day! Silly bright, IMHO.....

  • I've still got my old Light & Motion HID NiMH lights. Not as techy and long-lasting as more modern LED - li-ion setups, but still a great beam pattern and good weatherproofing. They must be nearly 10 years old now.

  • You heading back out today?

  • What tyre pressure should I run around epping btw? I've also brought some new tyres for this event too (cyclox-king 35mm)

  • I'm never going to get my 26" bike ready in time for this so now thinking I'll put new tyres on my old Alfine Pompetamine as I have M+'s on there at present.

I guess it depends a lot of weather conditions prior but would these be OK for Epping?

  • @HoKe & @TheShipwright - I think I'll pass these CX tyre questions over to people with more experience with skinny tyres :-)

    Calling forum CX experts @Howard @andyp @Ramsaye @Jon.

  • Just been running about 15psi through there today lolyolo

  • I'm at 10psi there now.... Anyone beat that? :0)

  • I think I actually had a double puncture and was actually running on empty....

  • Depends on your bulk and skills but I run 25 / 30

  • Anyway.....today was a treat :0)

  • That Stache would make a lovely singlespeed.

  • I think I'd like to pop along for this, if shoulder-rehab allows.

I'm debating between the following bike options:

Sscx pompino with inter/mud clincher CX tyres

1x9 Rigid 26er mtb with 2.2" knobblies (no chain keeper, not a narrow-wide chainring and no clutch on the mech)

    As above mtb but ss

  • Whichever bike you're most comfortable on, Rich. The 1x9 should be ok, as long as you have a SS/non-ramped chainring.

Hope to see you there :-)

  • It might go that way eventually.....you can run a gates belt on it too :0)

  • What gear ratio is alright for epping? So far I'm running my standard 42x17 set up for my daily commute (with my POS half link chain still)
