That's perfect then.
I'll dig out my template cardboard . . .

Is that purple cloth still available? And if so could you do one that alternated panels of white and purple?

Yes, it is. Keep in mind that it's waxed cotton, which is a waterproof fabric.
If you're after a non-waterproof cap, I'd be happy to order the fabric, but it'll take a few extra days.
I can do do white/purple, no problems - you'd just have to indicate which colour each panel should be.
Since mine is a three-panel design, I'd suggest the side panels in one colour, and the central panel/strip in the contrasting colour.

That's cool thanks. I've looked more closely at the pictures and see what you mean - the seam on the sides is actually a dart in a single piece of cloth - I'd thought it was the join of two pieces.
I'd say white to the sides and purple down the middle and on the brim.
And yes non-waterproof would be my preference. -

Okay, great!
If you wouldn't mind placing the order via my Etsy shop - you'll see the custom cap listing - I'll order the fabric accordingly.

If anyone commutes in the rain and cold I really recommend trying the waxed cotton. As long as its below 5c my head stays warm and dry for the hours commute. Any warmer than that its too hot as its not very breathable.

Thanks for the quick answer.
Would it be possible to sew/glue the t-shirt fabric onto the fabric panel that you’d normally use? So it could be used as the outer or the lining?
Just spitballing, have no idea if it’s possible and if it’s difficult/time consuming to do.
Thanks.. -

You could use fusible interfacing, which would basically glue a very thin layer of stiffer fabric to the T-shirt fabric. That would make the T-shirt fabric easier to work with, and more fit for purpose as a cap fabric.
I haven't done this before with old T-shirts, so I can't guarantee the finish, but it should work, theoretically.
If you're very keen to give it a go, let's chat in PMs to arrange things?

Okay will send a pm across in the next couple of days
Thanks
Thanks - I'll have a look.
It would be for hiking so wouldn't be wearing it on the bike.
